Captain America: Brave New World finished with $415,101,577 worldwide, just over twice The Marvels’ $206,136,825 lifetime total, according to The Numbers’ franchise box-office table, accessed in 2026. But it did not pass that total within a literal seven-day week: contemporary reporting put the crossover at about 10 days into its theatrical run, during its second-weekend period.
How much did each film make worldwide?
On the comparable measure that answers the headline question—worldwide lifetime theatrical gross—Brave New World finished $208,964,752 ahead of The Marvels. The figures below come from The Numbers’ current Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise table, accessed in 2026.
| Film | Worldwide lifetime gross | Release date listed by The Numbers |
|---|---|---|
| Captain America: Brave New World | $415,101,577 | February 12, 2025 |
| The Marvels | $206,136,825 | November 8, 2023 |
The newer Captain America film’s final worldwide total was slightly more than twice the Marvels total. These are theatrical grosses, not measures of profit: gross receipts alone do not account for marketing costs, distribution terms, or the share retained by theaters.
Did it pass The Marvels in exactly one week?
No. “In a week” is an imprecise shorthand, not a literal seven-day milestone. The Numbers records Brave New World at $113,005,738 in domestic cumulative gross during its first week. That is the U.S. and Canada figure, not a worldwide total, and it does not show that the film had already surpassed The Marvels globally.

- As he takes on the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson soon finds himself in the middle of an international incident. In a race against time, Sam must unravel a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. ComicBook.com reported an estimated $289 million worldwide after 10 full days in theaters. That places the crossover in the second-weekend period, after the first seven days. The $289 million figure was a contemporary estimate; it should not be confused with either film’s final lifetime total.
Why do early box-office reports show different numbers?
Opening-weekend coverage and later box-office databases describe different dates, territories, and estimate statuses. For its February 16, 2025 report, the Associated Press cited Disney’s estimate of $88.5 million from Friday through Sunday in the U.S. and Canada, and a projected $192.4 million global total through the Presidents’ Day Monday holiday. The Numbers later lists an $88,842,603 domestic opening weekend.

Those numbers are not contradictory: the AP figures were contemporaneous estimates tied to a particular reporting frame, while The Numbers’ opening-weekend figure is a later database entry. Neither opening-weekend measure should be compared directly with a worldwide lifetime gross.
AP also reported that the film played in 4,105 U.S. and Canadian locations during that opening frame. In the same report, Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian said, “The superhero genre has taken a hit over the past few years, but audiences still have a huge interest in seeing them on the big screen.” That is industry context, not a measured explanation for either film’s final total.

- Steve Rogers wields the shield in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. Then it?s Sam Wilson who unleashes his wings and takes up the mantle in Captain America: Brave New World. Join them as they fight evil global forces with this action-packed 4-movie set.
What the comparison does—and does not—show
The clean conclusion is about box-office scale: Brave New World ultimately earned more worldwide than The Marvels, by about $209 million. The timing claim is narrower: available reporting places the point at which it passed The Marvels’ total at roughly 10 days, rather than within seven days.
Gross totals alone cannot establish whether either film was profitable or whether one should be called a success or failure. That judgment would require additional information, including marketing costs, distribution arrangements, and theatrical revenue splits.
