Diane Keaton’s Sullivan Canyon farmhouse is no longer on the market: Architectural Digest reported in August 2026 that an unidentified buyer purchased it for $18 million. The widely repeated $29 million figure refers to its original $28.9 million asking price when Keaton listed it on March 24, 2025—not the final reported sale price.

What happened to the $29 million listing?

The asking price changed during the listing. Realtor.com reported the initial $28.9 million price in March 2025; Architectural Digest later reported that the home’s most recent asking price was $22.9 million before the August 2026 sale was reported at $18 million. The sale price was confirmed to Architectural Digest, but the reviewed reporting does not include a deed or another primary transaction record.

Most recent asking price $22.9 million Architectural Digest, June 2026

What was Keaton’s Sullivan Canyon home like?

Architectural Digest described the custom-built farmhouse as 9,200 square feet, with five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a separate guesthouse, and a pool. Keaton had the home built using 75,000 reclaimed Chicago bricks. The result combined a substantial brick exterior with farmhouse and industrial details rather than a conventional polished, all-white finish.

Brick, beams, and black-and-white interiors

The June 2026 Architectural Digest feature described exposed beams and French doors opening onto a brick patio. In the skylit kitchen, white brick and weathered metal fixtures sit within a black-and-white palette. The library has white shelving and a black staircase at its center. These details show how the reclaimed brick shaped both the house’s exterior identity and the interior’s contrasts.

How Pinterest influenced the design

Keaton’s design process included collecting ideas on Pinterest, and the finished project became the subject of her 2017 book, The House That Pinterest Built. That title captures one source of inspiration, not a claim that Pinterest alone dictated the house. Realtor.com also reported that Keaton drew on a New York apartment where she had lived, the childhood story The Three Little Pigs, and her long-held wish for a brick home.

In Architectural Digest’s 2017 home tour, Keaton described her approach this way: “I follow my impulses just like I did with acting.” She recalled initially thinking she would paint the brick white, then growing fond of its texture and imperfections. The project’s character came in part from allowing the material to remain visible rather than forcing it into the black-and-white scheme she first imagined.

In the June 2026 feature, listing agent Josh Flagg praised Keaton’s ability to see architectural potential and called her eye for proportion and design rare. That is the agent’s assessment of her work, rather than an independently established credential.

Where to learn more about the house

Keaton’s book, The House That Pinterest Built, documents the design project and is the most direct way to explore the home through her design perspective. Architectural Digest’s June 2026 feature describes the listed property and its rooms; its August 2026 sale report gives the reported outcome.
