Dexter: Original Sin premiered on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME on Friday, December 13, 2024. Its separate Showtime on-air debut followed on Sunday, December 15. Both dates have passed, and Paramount+ currently lists the series as “All Episodes Now Streaming.” Paramount confirmed the dates but did not announce an exact streaming release time or time zone, so there is no verified hour to put on a countdown timer.
When did Dexter: Original Sin come out?
The streaming premiere of Dexter: Original Sin was Friday, December 13, 2024, on the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan. The series then made its Showtime on-air debut on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Those dates refer to two different ways of premiering the show, not conflicting reports about one release date. Paramount Press Express announced both dates on September 12, 2024. The December 13 date is the one to use when asking when the show first became available to stream. December 15 is the later scheduled debut on the Showtime television network. In other words, a search result or listing that mentions December 15 is describing the linear, on-air broadcast rather than revising the streaming premiere date.
For anyone arriving at this page after the original launch, neither date is an upcoming event. The announcement is still useful for distinguishing the original release platforms, but a countdown to either premiere has expired.

What time did it release?
Paramount’s announcement confirms the streaming date but does not specify an exact release hour or time zone. That means a precise time—such as midnight in a particular city—cannot be presented as officially confirmed on the basis of the announcement. Online speculation about a release hour is not an official schedule.
The distinction matters because a date alone does not establish a universal clock time. A release-hour claim would need an official schedule that names both the hour and the applicable time zone. The premiere announcement reviewed for this article provides neither, so it cannot confirm when the series appeared in a particular viewer’s local time. It is more accurate to report the announced date than to turn an unverified estimate into a countdown time.
For a past premiere, the practical answer is the confirmed date rather than a countdown to a particular hour. If you are checking whether the series is available now, consult the current listing in the Paramount+ app or on its official series page; catalog status and access can vary by territory and may change.
Is the countdown still running?
No. A countdown to the original streaming premiere would have ended on December 13, 2024, and the Showtime on-air countdown would have ended two days later. Paramount+ now labels the series “All Episodes Now Streaming,” so the relevant question is current catalog availability rather than time remaining until release. Check the current Paramount+ listing.
The listing reflects what Paramount+ says about the series, not a guarantee that it is available in every country or under every subscription. Check your local service catalog and account details before planning to watch. Streaming catalogs and subscription requirements can differ by territory and change over time, so the listing is a useful current-status check rather than a promise that access will be identical for every viewer.
There is no meaningful countdown comparison left between the streaming and broadcast premieres: both dates have passed. The useful comparison is historical—December 13 was the streaming launch, and December 15 was the Showtime television debut. If a timer still appears elsewhere, confirm what event it refers to and whether it is displaying an old date.
What is Dexter: Original Sin about?
Dexter: Original Sin is a drama and suspense series set in Miami in 1991. It follows Dexter as he moves from student life toward becoming an avenging serial killer, while beginning a forensic internship at the Miami Metro Police Department. Harry guides him as he learns how to channel his urges. The premise places the story at an earlier point in Dexter’s life, during his training, rather than presenting it as a new season set in the character’s later years.
The setting and premise help explain the “in training” description used in Paramount+ promotional copy. This is a story about Dexter at the beginning of his path: he is starting an internship and learning, with Harry’s guidance, how to direct his urges. Paramount Global Content describes the series as chronicling “America’s favorite serial killer… in training.” That is the platform’s promotional wording, not an independent critical assessment. Its official title page gives the 1991 Miami setting, the internship premise and the season format. See Paramount Global Content’s series information.

How many episodes are there, and when did the season finish?
Paramount Global Content lists Season 1 as 10 episodes. The official Paramount+ episode page gives episode-level dates: Episode 1 is dated December 13, 2024; Episodes 2 and 3 are dated December 20; and Episode 4 is dated December 27. The Season 1 finale, Episode 10, is listed as “Code Blues,” dated February 14, 2025.
These episode entries make clear that the season’s listed run continued well beyond premiere day. The first episode carries the December 13 series-premiere date; the second and third entries are dated one week later, December 20; Episode 4 is dated December 27; and the finale listing gives February 14, 2025. The finale’s date is the listed date for Episode 10, not a claim that every episode in between was released on a particular cadence.
Those examples establish that the season’s episode dates extended beyond the premiere, but they are not a complete schedule. For the full episode list and any current catalog details, use Paramount+’s official listing rather than inferring unlisted dates from a partial set of entries. The series page is the appropriate place to verify the episode count, titles, and dates currently shown by the service.

The original streaming premiere date and the finale’s listing are separate milestones: December 13, 2024 marks the series premiere, while February 14, 2025 is the date shown for Episode 10.
Where can you watch it now?
Paramount+ was the announced streaming home for the December 13 premiere, specifically on the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan. The current Paramount+ series page says all episodes are streaming. The Showtime on-air debut was separately scheduled for December 15, 2024. Availability today depends on the territory and the service’s current catalog, so the official local listing is the most reliable place to confirm access.
- For streaming, check the Paramount+ series page in your region.
- For details about the original announcement and the distinction between the streaming and on-air premieres, consult Paramount Press Express.
The page’s “All Episodes Now Streaming” label establishes the status shown by Paramount+ when checked; it should not be read as a promise of universal availability or permanent catalog placement. The original announcement names Paramount+ with SHOWTIME as the streaming premiere service, while the current series listing is the direct source for the catalog status it displays now. Those are useful answers to different questions: where the show premiered, and what the official listing currently says.
If you are searching for “where can I watch Dexter: Original Sin,” start with the Paramount+ listing and check the catalog in your own region. Do not assume a service page or subscription arrangement shown in one territory necessarily applies elsewhere. Likewise, the Showtime date in the announcement describes the original on-air debut; it should not be mistaken for a current statement about every territory’s broadcast schedule.
Which release date should I use?
Use December 13, 2024 when the question is when Dexter: Original Sin premiered on streaming. Use December 15, 2024 when referring specifically to its Showtime on-air debut. Paramount announced the streaming premiere and the network debut as separate events, two days apart. Neither date is an upcoming release now.
That two-date distinction resolves the most common confusion in release-date searches. A streaming guide focused on the first availability through Paramount+ should use December 13. A reference to the Showtime television broadcast should use December 15. Keeping the platform attached to the date prevents the two announcements from looking like contradictory premiere information.

Is there a confirmed release time or time zone?
No exact hour or time zone is specified in the official premiere announcement reviewed here. The announcement confirms Friday, December 13, 2024 for streaming, but it does not support a more precise clock-time claim. A countdown that uses a particular hour should not be described as official unless an official schedule confirms it.
This is why the date is the firm answer to “What time did Dexter: Original Sin release?” The research supports the day and date, not a precise local arrival time. If you need to check present-day access, the Paramount+ listing is more relevant than trying to reconstruct an unconfirmed launch hour.

Was Dexter: Original Sin a new season of the original series?
The official series description presents Dexter: Original Sin as a story set in 1991 Miami, following Dexter as he begins a forensic internship and learns with Harry’s guidance. The official information also identifies this as Season 1, with 10 episodes.
