The change is a recasting, not Dewey’s removal from the story. Hulu’s guide says Dewey is mostly seen connecting with his family over video calls while living abroad.
Why is Dewey played by a different actor?
The revival’s official cast announcement and viewing guides do not explain why Sullivan did not return. They confirm Ellsworth-Clark’s casting, but do not establish whether Sullivan declined, was unavailable, or had another reason. Claims about his personal circumstances should not be treated as confirmed without a reliable direct source.
