Netflix confirmed Devil May Cry Season 2, which premiered on May 12, 2026, and is now available to stream. Netflix has also renewed the animated series for a third and final season, though it has not announced that season’s release date.

What happens in Season 2?
The story pits Dante against his estranged twin brother, Vergil, as a war between worlds begins. Netflix’s season guide says Dante must also confront his feelings about the family he lost as a child. The series adapts Capcom’s Devil May Cry video game franchise; Netflix describes it as an animated series led by Adi Shankar and animated by Studio Mir.
Netflix Tudum attributes this aim to showrunner Adi Shankar: “Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform — period.”

Yes. Netflix says the series has been renewed for a third and final season. Its June 4, 2026 guide does not give a premiere date.
What is the series based on?
The animated series is based on Capcom’s Devil May Cry game franchise. Netflix describes the source as an action-adventure game series developed by Capcom and created by Hideki Kamiya. The anime adapts the franchise; the official descriptions do not identify a direct one-game counterpart for Season 2.
