Williams’s role in Death Becomes Her
The musical adapts the 1992 dark-comedy film about Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp, longtime rivals whose conflict takes a fantastical turn when Viola Van Horn offers them a potion that restores youth and beauty. The potion opens a new chapter of life, death and renewed rivalry for the two women, according to the official show description.
Williams played Viola in the Broadway production. The role puts her at the center of the story’s supernatural bargain: Viola’s potion changes the lives of Madeline and Helen, while intensifying the tension between them.
What the 2024 interview connected
Ticketmaster’s October 31, 2024 interview looked both at Williams’s stage role and at the twentieth anniversary of Destiny Fulfilled. In the available excerpt, she recounts a young listener saying that, with age, they were realizing the album “is actually telling a story.” That is one listener’s interpretation, not evidence of a general consensus about the record.

The excerpt also mentions the Natalie Cole sample in “Inseparable.” It does not provide a full interview transcript, so the excerpt supports only this brief account of the discussion.

Death Becomes Her began Broadway previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on October 23, 2024, according to Universal Theatrical Group. The official show site records June 28, 2026, as the final Broadway performance and lists North American tour dates, including an October 6–11, 2026 stop in Columbus, Ohio.
The Broadway role and the tour casting are distinct. The official touring cast page lists Nasia Thomas as Viola Van Horn, not Williams. The show’s Broadway FAQ refers to digital availability of the cast recording and planned CD and vinyl editions; it does not establish current physical-format stock.
