Descendants: The Rise of Red is a time-travel story about two daughters from very different royal families: Red, daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, Cinderella’s daughter. When the Queen of Hearts threatens Auradon, the pair go back in time to try to change the event that shaped her into a villain.
What is Descendants: The Rise of Red about?
The story begins when the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon. Red and Chloe travel into the past in an effort to undo the traumatic event that set Red’s mother on her villainous path. The mission puts the girls’ contrasting family histories at the center of the plot, while raising the stakes of changing the past.

Chloe

When did the film premiere?
Disney’s official fact sheet lists July 12, 2024 as the premiere date. A company presentation published May 7, 2024 had listed the film as a planned Disney+ scripted release for that date; the presentation cautioned that planned dates could change. The Walt Disney Company’s Q2 FY24 presentation

What is known about the next Descendants film?
On February 25, 2025, Disney announced a fifth Descendants film for Disney Channel and Disney+. The announcement said Cantrall and Baker would return, with the new story following Red and Chloe after their time-traveling adventure.
