Correction to the original headline: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc was not an upcoming 2026 release. The fourth TV season premiered exclusively on Crunchyroll on May 12, 2024, and its eight-episode run concluded on June 30, 2024. The trailer attached to the announcement arrived on April 8, 2024.
The season is now best understood as the short preparation arc before the franchise’s final confrontation—not as a new release still waiting for a launch date.
What Crunchyroll announced
On April 8, 2024, Crunchyroll and the official Demon Slayer channels confirmed that the Hashira Training Arc would stream exclusively on Crunchyroll in the territories where the service was available. The first episode arrived Sunday, May 12, with subsequent episodes released weekly.
The announcement also included a new trailer showing Tanjiro Kamado and the Demon Slayer Corps preparing for the battle ahead. Rather than introducing a completely separate mystery or villain, the footage focused on the Corps’ intensive training under the Hashira—the elite swordsmen who lead the organization.
#1 Best Overall
That distinction matters because the season is a bridge between the Swordsmith Village Arc and the concluding storyline. It is built around preparation, character interaction and escalating tension before the conflict with Muzan Kibutsuji reaches its final stage.
Release schedule and episode count
Crunchyroll’s published schedule established an eight-episode season. The subtitled release dates were:
| Episode | Release date |
|---|---|
| 1 | May 12, 2024 |
| 2 | May 19, 2024 |
| 3 | May 26, 2024 |
| 4 | June 2, 2024 |
| 5 | June 9, 2024 |
| 6 | June 16, 2024 |
| 7 | June 23, 2024 |
| 8 | June 30, 2024, at 11:45 a.m. PT |
The exact local time depended on region and platform availability. “Crunchyroll-exclusive” did not mean that every country received the episode at an identical time or that the service operated in every territory.

After the events in the Swordsmith Village, Tanjiro and the other Demon Slayer Corps members must improve their abilities before the expected assault by Muzan and his demons. The Hashira each contribute to the training program, giving the season a structure built around different instructors and combat disciplines.
The arc is less battle-heavy than some earlier seasons. That is deliberate. It develops the Corps as a fighting force, gives the Hashira more time on screen and establishes the physical and emotional stakes for the final conflict. Viewers looking for another extended mission like the Mugen Train or Entertainment District arcs may find the pacing more preparatory, but the season’s purpose is to position the characters for what follows.

- Tanjiro Kamado, joined with Inosuke Hashibira, a boy raised by boars who wears a boar's head, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, a scared boy who reveals his true power when he sleeps, board the Infinity Train on a new mission with the Fire Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, to defeat a demon who has been tormenting the people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it!
Was the theatrical Hashira Training release the same as Season 4?
No. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training was a theatrical compilation. It combined the conclusion of the Swordsmith Village storyline with an advance presentation of the first Hashira Training episode.
The eight-episode television season is the complete episodic version. The film was designed as a theatrical preview and recap experience, not as a separate full season or replacement for the weekly broadcast.
What comes after Season 4?
The next major animated continuation is not officially called Season 5. The final storyline is being adapted as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, a three-part theatrical film trilogy announced by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures in June 2024.

According to the latest official update in the supplied release information, Infinity Castle I began streaming on Crunchyroll on July 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PT, although availability varies by region. Infinity Castle II is in production, and no release date has been announced.
That format explains why reports describing the next installment as “Demon Slayer Season 5” are misleading. The continuation is being marketed and distributed as a trilogy of films rather than as another numbered television season.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The headline refers to a 2024 announcement, not an upcoming release. That conclusion is continuing through the Infinity Castle film trilogy rather than a conventional Season 5.
