Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is listed at $793,594,078 worldwide on Box Office Mojo’s all-releases title page, as accessed October 8, 2026. That is the most current US-dollar total available from a major database. Toho’s final Japan-run announcement, reported by Crunchyroll on April 10, 2026, gives a different figure: ¥117,917,539,329 worldwide, which Crunchyroll converted to about US$740.49 million. The two numbers come from different sources, on different dates, and in different currencies, so they should not be presented as one total.
The headline milestone is a record. In September 2025, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that the film had become the highest-grossing anime film worldwide, overtaking Demon Slayer: Mugen Train at that point in its run.
Which total to quote
Three sets of figures circulate for this film. Each is accurate for its own source and date, and each answers a different question.
| Figure | Who reported it, and when | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| $793,594,078 worldwide ($136,950,340 domestic; $656,643,738 international) | Box Office Mojo title page, accessed October 8, 2026 | Current all-releases database total in US dollars. The database is updated over time, so this figure can change. |
| ¥117,917,539,329 worldwide and 98,520,310 tickets sold; about US$740.49 million by conversion | Toho, as reported by Crunchyroll on April 10, 2026 | Toho’s final Japan-run announcement in yen. The dollar figure is Crunchyroll’s approximation, using Aniplex’s monthly average yen-to-dollar rate at the time. |
| $132.1 million worldwide opening weekend; $177.8 million worldwide running total; $70 million North American opening | Comscore estimates, reported by The Associated Press on September 14, 2025 | Early release estimates from the opening period. They are not a lifetime gross. |
For a story about the latest US-dollar gross, use the Box Office Mojo figure and label it as that database’s current listing. For a story about the final Japanese theatrical run, use Toho’s yen total and keep Crunchyroll’s conversion note with it.

What the record claim covers
Sony Pictures Entertainment’s September 2025 announcement, reported by Crunchyroll on September 23, 2025, describes a ranking at a specific moment. It says the film had passed Mugen Train as the highest-grossing anime film worldwide at that point in the run. It is not a permanent ranking, and it does not settle questions about every all-time or genre-specific list. A later database total does not extend the claim’s scope either. The record is a dated announcement that the film had overtaken the franchise’s previous leader, and it has held up against the later totals reported here.
Why the totals do not match
The gap between $793.6 million and about $740.5 million is not a simple rounding issue. Several differences overlap:
Rank #2
- Package Dimensions: 8.0" (L) x 8.0" (W) x 10.0" (H)
- Product Type: Toy Figure
- Package Quantity: 1
- Country Of Origin: China
- Source: Box Office Mojo is a US-dollar database, while the Toho figure is an official yen announcement for the Japanese run.
- Date: The Toho update is dated April 10, 2026, and the Box Office Mojo figure reflects its database as accessed on October 8, 2026.
- Currency: The yen total had to be converted, and the conversion uses a monthly average rate chosen by Crunchyroll’s report, not a rate on the day of this article.
- Scope: The published Toho announcement and the Box Office Mojo listing do not describe their compilation methods in enough detail to show which revenues each one includes.
Because the reports do not explain their methods, the gap cannot be fully reconciled from the published material. Do not convert the historical yen total at today’s exchange rate to produce a new figure, and do not average the two numbers.
Opening weekend: early estimates, not final gross
Comscore’s estimates, as reported by The Associated Press on September 14, 2025, put the North American opening at $70 million and the worldwide opening weekend at $132.1 million. The worldwide running total at that point was $177.8 million. These figures show the speed of the opening, but they are early estimates and should not be read as the film’s final gross.
