Her television credits stretched across decades and genres. The Television Academy also lists Pretty the Series and the films Reservations, Delicate State and Temps.
From the Marine Corps and radio to acting
Before pursuing acting, Freeman served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a radio DJ in Japan, according to the Jamaica Gleaner. Her screen debut came in a 1995 episode of Coach. The Gleaner also lists credits including NCIS: Los Angeles, alongside her appearances on Seinfeld, ER, The X-Files, Dexter, Shameless and Sistas.

The Jamaica Gleaner reproduced a statement from Freeman’s family: “Dee passed away peacefully on April 2 after a brave and fearless fight with cancer.” Publicist Desirae L. Benson said: “Even in the face of stage four lung cancer, she showed up with courage and dignity.”
