In a statement reported by ABC News on May 28, 2025, Furness spoke about betrayal as a profound wound and said faith in a higher power and guidance helped her navigate the end of a marriage that had lasted nearly three decades. She also said she remained grateful and that the end was not personal. ABC News reported that the Daily Mail first published the statement.
Furness described the possibility of reclaiming one’s sense of self this way: “It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.” ABC News, May 28, 2025

What her words do—and do not—establish
Furness used the word “betrayal,” but the published remarks do not identify a specific event or explain the private cause of the breakup. The word alone is not evidence of a particular allegation or account of what happened between the two.
From separation announcement to divorce
Furness and Jackman met in 1995 while working on the Australian television series Corelli and married in 1996. Their public announcement of a separation came 27 years into the marriage.
