At its May 2024 eighth-anniversary broadcast, Dead by Daylight announced two new chapters, previewed two games set in its wider universe, and revealed its annual in-game celebration. The announcements were not all releases of the same kind: Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania were chapters for the multiplayer game; The Casting of Frank Stone was a separate narrative horror game; Project T was introduced as a co-op shooter; and What the Fog launched as a two-player roguelite.
What did Dead by Daylight announce for its eighth anniversary?
Behaviour Interactive’s May 15, 2024 recap grouped the broadcast into four themes: new chapters, gameplay updates, expansion of the Dead by Daylight universe, and anniversary celebrations. The central announcements were a Dungeons & Dragons chapter, the reveal of Project T, a new gameplay trailer for The Casting of Frank Stone, a Castlevania tease, the surprise launch of What the Fog, and a date for the Twisted Masquerade event. Behaviour’s anniversary recap is the source for the broadcast slate.
| Announcement | Format | What was said in 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Dungeons & Dragons | Dead by Daylight chapter | Vecna as Killer, Aestri Yazar as Survivor, and Forgotten Ruins as the map; released June 3, 2024. |
| Project T | Cooperative PvE shooter concept | Announced as a 1–4-player game set in the Entity’s Realm, in the Backwater. |
| The Casting of Frank Stone | Separate narrative horror game | Gameplay trailer shown; its later announced release date was September 3, 2024. |
| Castlevania | Dead by Daylight chapter | Teased for later in summer 2024; later chapter details named Dracula and Trevor Belmont. |
| What the Fog | Two-player cooperative roguelite | Surprise launch during the anniversary broadcast. |
| Twisted Masquerade | In-game anniversary event | Scheduled to begin June 13, 2024. |
What was in the Dungeons & Dragons chapter?
Behaviour revealed Dungeons & Dragons as the next Dead by Daylight chapter. It brought the fantasy role-playing franchise into the multiplayer horror game through Vecna, the Lich, as a Killer; Bard Aestri Yazar as a Survivor; and the Forgotten Ruins map. The chapter was released on June 3, 2024, according to Behaviour’s June 3 chapter launch announcement. These are game characters and a map within Dead by Daylight, not a separate D&D game release.
What was Project T?
Project T was announced as a cooperative player-versus-environment shooter set in the world of Dead by Daylight. In Behaviour’s May 14, 2024 announcement, the team described it as “a 1–4-person co-op PVE shooter from the world of Dead by Daylight, currently in early development.” Players were to take the role of Trespassers in the Entity’s Realm, exploring the Backwater and facing creatures called Thralls. The concept included vehicles, talismans, and weapons, and Behaviour emphasized that the game was work in progress. The announcement also invited players to join an Insider Program. Behaviour’s Project T announcement documents that May 2024 description.

What is The Casting of Frank Stone?
The Casting of Frank Stone is a separate narrative horror game set in the Dead by Daylight universe, rather than a chapter played inside the multiplayer game. The anniversary broadcast showed a gameplay trailer. Behaviour’s May 14, 2024 overview described four friends making a horror film in 1980 and highlighted a branching story shaped by choices, environmental puzzles, and Quick Time Events. The gameplay overview introduced those elements.
Story and play
A later feature deep dive explained that the story’s choices can change its course and described an 8MM camera with a supernatural role. It also detailed couch co-op for two to four players: friends share the story by passing the controller, rather than playing as a networked team. Behaviour announced a September 3, 2024 release date in that August 22 feature. The date is historical; the cited material does not establish the game’s current price or storefront availability. Behaviour’s feature deep dive provides those details.
What did the Castlevania announcement reveal?
Castlevania was the broadcast’s final surprise, teased for later in summer 2024 as a Dead by Daylight chapter. Behaviour’s August 6 chapter announcement identified Dracula and Trevor Belmont. The chapter announcement gives the later details beyond the initial teaser.
Behaviour also announced Castlevania-themed outfits for Dracula and Trevor Belmont, alongside outfits for Dead by Daylight characters including Kate Denson and Mikaela Reid. Its August 27 collection post said the collection was in the in-game store at that time and listed two additional outfits as due September 12, 2024. Those are dated availability statements, not confirmation that the cosmetics remain in the store. The collection post describes the cosmetics.

What was What the Fog?
What the Fog was the broadcast’s surprise launch: a two-player cooperative roguelite featuring Dwight, Claudette, and Feng Min. It was a standalone game, not a chapter for Dead by Daylight. The May 2024 recap described a limited offer of free keys through a Behaviour Account and a US$4.99 Steam price at publication. Those terms describe the launch announcement only; they do not establish current price or availability.
What gameplay updates and event were announced?
The broadcast also announced a planned 2v8 mode, pairing two Killers against eight Survivors, along with cross-progression and other gameplay changes as future updates. The anniversary recap records these as announcements made in May 2024; it does not, by itself, confirm their present availability.
The eighth-anniversary event, Twisted Masquerade, was scheduled to begin June 13, 2024. That was the event’s announced start date, not a current or upcoming event date. Behaviour included it in the anniversary recap.

The anniversary slate connected several formats through the same horror universe, but they offered different kinds of play. Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania expanded the existing multiplayer game through chapters. The Casting of Frank Stone offered a branching narrative, with a solo story and a local shared-controller option. Project T was presented as a cooperative PvE shooter concept, while What the Fog launched as a two-player co-op roguelite. The distinction matters: only the two licensed chapters were announced as additions to the core Dead by Daylight game.
