What counts as a DCU release?
Here, “DCU” means the shared continuity led by DC Studios co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran—not every movie or show based on DC characters. DC’s January 31, 2023 explanation distinguished that shared universe from Elseworlds projects, including Todd Phillips’ Joker and Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Those films do not belong in this DCU release calendar. The Batman – Part II, despite appearing in the same broad DC slate coverage, is also a separate Elseworlds project.

The “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” announcement in 2023 named five films and five series. It was a starting slate, not a guarantee that every project would release on the originally discussed timeline. DC said schedules were flexible and projects would not move into production before their scripts were ready. The current dated releases and TBA labels above reflect later schedule information, not the original slate’s projected timing.
Why some announced DCU dates are still TBA
The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing were named in the original film slate, while Waller, Booster Gold, and Paradise Lost were named as series. The September 30, 2026 roundup still listed these titles without dates. No release year or window should be inferred from their order in the 2023 announcement.

- âś… GREAT FOR COLLECTING OR GIFTING - Officially Licensed, MADE IN THE USA
DC described The Brave and the Bold as a Batman-and-Robin story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series. That description is a story connection, not a release-date update. The same distinction matters for the slate as a whole: an announced project is not necessarily dated, in production, or close to release.

The 2023 slate used the working title Superman: Legacy and placed it in 2025; the released film is titled Superman, and DC lists its US release as July 11, 2025. The 2023 slate also discussed The Batman – Part II in connection with 2025, but that film is outside the shared DCU schedule. For Clayface, DC’s 2025 guide had an earlier September 11, 2026 date, while its current homepage lists October 23, 2026. Use the current date, and check for a newer DC announcement when planning around any future release.
