Why was the event organized so quickly?
Warren Haynes had planned to hold the 2024 Christmas Jam before the storms disrupted those plans. The Recording Academy reported that Dave Matthews Band’s existing Madison Square Garden dates left the following evening available, and the band offered to share its onstage backline, helping address a logistical challenge in assembling the benefit.
Haynes, a native of Asheville, described the decision this way: “We decided, ‘Let’s turn this into an opportunity to make the most impact that we can’ to help the victims of Helene.” Recording Academy / GRAMMY.com
