Dasha performed “Austin” at the 2024 CMT Music Awards on April 7, 2024, at Austin’s Moody Center. iHeart’s April 8 report includes an embedded video player for the performance; its page does not establish whether the clip is still available or whether it shows the complete official segment. This is the live awards performance, not Dasha’s separate official “Austin” music video.
Watch Dasha perform “Austin”
The performance took place during Dasha’s CMT Music Awards debut at the Moody Center. The show’s organizers described the booking as a tribute to Austin, the host city. Watch the embedded performance on iHeart’s report, if the player is available in your region and on your device.
For a different video, the Recording Academy’s profile and interview links to Dasha’s official “Austin” music video. That studio video is not the CMT stage performance.

CMT billed “Austin” as Dasha’s awards-show debut and a fitting tribute to the host city. In a later interview with the Recording Academy, Dasha said she had not realized when she accepted the booking that her first trip to Austin would be to perform a song called “Austin.” She recalled hearing fans sing the title from the stands and said Lainey Wilson congratulated her afterward.
The stage performance
iHeart’s next-day account describes Dasha performing with dancers. It says she changed from a custom leopard-print red-carpet gown into boots, denim shorts and a vest for the stage.

Why “Austin” mattered to the moment
“Austin” was a breakout hit for Dasha, whose full name is Anna Dasha Novotny. The Recording Academy describes her as a country singer-songwriter and reports that the song reached the Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Those chart figures are reported in the Academy’s 2024 profile and have not been independently checked against Billboard’s archive here.
The song appears on What Happens Now?, which iHeart describes as Dasha’s eight-track debut country album. In her Recording Academy interview, Dasha said she wrote “Austin” on May 15, 2023, as a revenge song, and that the hook “Did your boots stop working?” came to her during the writing session. She also explained the place-name choice: “The song is about Nashville, but Nashville doesn’t rhyme.”

That contrast gave the CMT performance an extra layer: the song’s title invokes a city that is not its lyrical setting, while the awards show placed the performance in the title city itself. CMT explicitly framed the booking as a tribute to Austin; Dasha’s account adds the personal detail that it was her first visit there.
