When did Dark Matter season 2 come out?
Season two premiered globally on Apple TV on August 28, 2026. Apple’s announced schedule puts a new episode out each Friday, with the finale scheduled for October 30. That means viewers arriving on October 8 can start a season with six episodes available, with the remaining weekly releases still to come.
Apple’s season-two announcement gives the episode count and release plan. The Apple series page is the place to check the show’s official listing.
Where can you watch it?
Season two streams on Apple TV. It is a scripted science-fiction thriller adapted from Blake Crouch’s novel, not a documentary; its multiverse premise and questions about identity may appeal to documentary viewers interested in science-inspired storytelling, but the events are fictional.

The setup signals a continuation of the multiverse story without requiring readers to rely on later episode summaries, which may disclose plot turns.
Who is in the cast and behind the series?
The season stars Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly, with Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Oakes Fegley, and Amanda Brugel. Blake Crouch created and showruns the series. Apple’s cast and crew credits list the production details.

Apple announced the renewal on August 16, 2024, after season one’s finale. The series is produced for Apple by Sony Pictures Television and is based on Crouch’s novel. In the renewal announcement, Matt Cherniss, then head of programming for Apple TV+, said the team would “dive deeper into the mysteries of the multiverse.”
Is season two based on the Dark Matter book?
The show began as an adaptation of Crouch’s novel, but season two expands beyond the book’s story. The novel can provide background on the source material and season one’s roots; it should not be treated as a recap or guide to all of season two’s events.
