DanMachi Season 5 Episode 12 was not canceled and is no longer indefinitely delayed. The episode was postponed on December 24, 2024, only days before its planned December 27 broadcast, because of unspecified production-related reasons. The production committee announced a replacement schedule on January 17, 2025, and Episodes 12 through 15 were released across February and March 2025, with dates varying by platform.
That means the headline “DanMachi Season 5 Episode 12 has been delayed indefinitely” was accurate as a description of the situation on December 24, 2024, but it is outdated as of 2026.
What happened to DanMachi Season 5 Episode 12?
The official DanMachi portal announced on December 24, 2024 that Episode 12 of Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka V—the Japanese title for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V—would not air or stream on its scheduled December 27 date.
The notice described the cause only as production-related reasons. It did not identify a particular studio staffing problem, animation incident, budget issue, quality-control dispute, or individual fault. The announcement apologized for repeated schedule changes and said the staff would continue working to deliver the series at the intended quality.

Because no replacement date was supplied, the remaining part of the season was effectively placed on an indefinite postponement. However, “indefinite” meant that the new schedule was unknown at that time; it did not mean that the season had been canceled or permanently shelved.
When did Episode 12 finally release?
On January 17, 2025, the production committee announced that the Season 5 climax—Episodes 12 through 15—would be released during February and March 2025. The dates were not identical across services, so there was no single worldwide release date for Episode 12.

Viewers should check the service available in their territory rather than assume that the Japanese broadcast date applies everywhere.

Did the rest of Season 5 finish?
Yes. Episodes 12, 13, 14, and 15 were ultimately released, completing the fifth season. The official Season 5 story page now includes an Episode 12 entry and synopsis material covering the continuing faction-war conflict, confirming that the episode was released rather than canceled or left unfinished.

Why was the episode delayed?
The only officially confirmed explanation is that the delay resulted from production-related reasons. That wording matters. The available official notice does not establish that the delay was caused by:

- a specific animation studio’s workload;
- a shortage of animators or other staff;
- a budget problem;
- a particular episode-quality issue;
- a dispute among staff or producers; or
- one named person or company.
Those explanations should not be presented as fact without separate, reliable confirmation. The safest and most accurate description is that production circumstances required the committee to postpone the remaining episodes while a new schedule was arranged.
Where can viewers watch DanMachi Season 5?
DanMachi V was promoted as part of HIDIVE’s Fall 2024 simulcast lineup in the United States. Streaming catalogs, territorial rights, subtitle and dub options, and episode availability can change, so readers should verify the current listing in their own country before subscribing or expecting the complete season to be available.
The original Japanese broadcast dates also should not be treated as universal streaming dates. A platform may release an episode later, offer it only in selected territories, or provide a different language version on a separate schedule.

Season 5 source material: where the story continues in print
Readers who want story material connected to the conflict in Season 5 can turn to the English-language light novels published by Yen Press. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Vol. 18 is especially relevant to this part of the story: its official description focuses on Orario’s reaction after Freya’s charm ends and the escalating conflict between Hestia Familia and Freya Familia.
That is the light novel edition, not the manga adaptation. Yen Press lists paperback and digital editions and identifies Amazon among the purchase options. Availability and edition details can vary by country.
Is there a complete Season 5 Blu-ray?
Sentai Filmworks lists an Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V Complete Collection Blu-ray containing all 15 Season 5 episodes. The listed release date is August 25, 2026. Because that date, retailer inventory, regional playback compatibility, and shipping availability are volatile, prospective buyers should recheck the distributor or retailer listing before ordering.

A complete collection is the most straightforward physical-media option for viewers who want Episodes 1 through 15 together, rather than tracking down the delayed episodes separately. It is also important to confirm whether the edition is intended for the buyer’s region and what subtitle, audio, and bonus-feature specifications it includes.

The franchise moved forward after Season 5. An official announcement at the series’ tenth-anniversary event on February 7, 2026 reported that DanMachi Season 6 entered production.
That announcement does not establish a release date. Production confirmation and a premiere date are separate milestones, so viewers should not infer that Season 6 will arrive in a particular year or season until an official schedule is published.
