Journalist Daniel Setti’s podcast Do vinil ao streaming: 60 anos em 60 discos adapts his 2023 book into an audio series about albums and the history surrounding them. Audioink produced the project, whose first season was announced in May 2024 as six episodes focused on iconic international pop albums.
What is “Do vinil ao streaming” about?
The project takes its name from Setti’s 2023 book, published by Autêntica Editora. The book and podcast consider 60 albums across six decades, from the 1960s through the 2010s. The launch coverage describes a focus primarily on pop music from the United Kingdom and the United States, spanning rock, soul, funk, hip-hop, punk, post-punk, heavy metal, new wave and indie rock. How does the podcast relate to the book?
Setti adapted and reorganized the book’s material for audio rather than simply reading the printed text aloud. He said that the process also brought out new stories and reflections about the albums that were exclusive to the podcast. Audioink produced the adaptation; creative director Isabel Lenza said the idea grew from her interest in Setti’s passionate, entertaining way of talking about music. Setti’s subject is not only the changing technology used to distribute music. He argues that streaming has encouraged what he calls “skipização” and “playlistização” of listening, while albums continue to be released, heard and discussed. In his view, an album remains a sustained exchange between artist and audience, and listening to one can resemble reading a book or watching a film. That is the author’s critical perspective, not a settled finding about how all listeners behave.

How many episodes are there, and what albums do they cover?
The first season was announced as six episodes, each dedicated to an iconic international pop album. A September 2025 report on the series named episodes concerning Jimi Hendrix, Gorillaz, PJ Harvey, U2, Kraftwerk and Sade. What is the claim about young listeners and full albums?
In the 2024 launch coverage, Setti referred to a Deezer survey from 2019, reportedly involving 2,000 people, according to which 15% of Britons aged 25 or younger had never listened to an entire album. The original survey source was not located in the reporting cited here, so the statistic should be understood as a figure Setti referenced, not as independently verified primary research.
