Season one of DanDaDan ends with episode 12, “Let’s Go to the Cursed House.” The episode sends Momo, Okarun and Jiji to Jiji’s house in a hot-spring town to look into what happened to his family. The season closes as the three step inside, with several figures watching them. That moment is the cliffhanger, and it is the reason the season reads as a handoff into a larger story rather than a self-contained arc.
What happens in the season one finale
Episode 12 is titled 呪いの家へレッツゴー in the official Japanese listing, which Crunchyroll renders in English as “Let’s Go to the Cursed House.” [c_ep12] [c_crunchyroll] The official synopsis for the episode is a plot description rather than a statement from a named speaker, so the summary below sticks to what it says.

The journey to Jiji’s house
- Momo and Okarun travel with Jiji to his home in a hot-spring town.
- The purpose of the trip is to investigate the incident involving Jiji’s family.
- On the way, Okarun feels unsettled by how close Momo and Jiji are.
- Despite that unease, Okarun starts to be drawn to Jiji’s kind personality.
- The three enter the house. The synopsis ends there, noting that several figures are watching them. [c_ep12]
Why the ending works as a cliffhanger
The episode does not resolve the family mystery. It moves the group from talking about the incident to standing inside the place where it happened, and it ends before anything is revealed. The synopsis confirms the observers exist but does not say who they are, what they want, or whether they are connected to Jiji’s family. Any reading beyond that is interpretation.
In practical terms, the finale does three things for the season. It turns Jiji’s background into an active investigation. It adds a personal tension between Okarun and the other two characters. And it leaves the threat unidentified, which is why the season feels like it hands off to the next arc.
