Okarun’s English voice actor, A.J. Beckles, was reported to have deleted his X account after backlash over fan art he shared. But Beckles has not publicly confirmed that the backlash was why he deleted it. The explanation in the reporting is an inference, not a statement from him.
What happened before Beckles’s X account was deleted?
In a report published December 11, 2024, ComicBook.com described a dispute over fan art by 16-year-old artist Lynn. The artwork redesigned Momo and Okarun with darker skin and an American look. Some fans criticized it as “blackwashing,” while others supported the redesign.

Beckles, who voices Okarun in the English dub, shared the artwork on X with the caption, “#NewProfilePic this is [fire emoji] thank you [Lynn].” The report says some fans then turned on him and that his X account had been deleted.
Did Beckles confirm why he deleted the account?
No confirmation appears in the cited reporting. ComicBook.com said the deletion was “most likely” a response to overwhelming and hateful comments. That is the outlet’s proposed explanation; it should not be presented as Beckles’s stated motive.

The report described the account as deleted at the time it was published. That is a historical account of the December 2024 episode, not confirmation of the account’s status today. It also said Lynn’s original post remained live then.
What did Beckles later say about another social-media account?
In a June 7, 2025 interview, Beckles said: “I actually have a little separate social media account that I made a while ago that I no longer use, and the profile picture is of Turbo Granny from the manga panel.”

He did not identify that account as the X account reported deleted in December 2024, and he did not connect it to the fan-art backlash. The remark therefore does not explain the reported deletion.

A.J. Beckles voices Okarun in the English-language version of DAN DA DAN. The series is based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga. The account-deletion story concerns Beckles’s reported X activity, not an official explanation from the anime’s producers or the actor.
