Dan Da Dan gives its escalating supernatural chaos a sturdy center: two classmates whose disagreement about ghosts and aliens draws them into the same uncanny world. The series’ continued manga serialization and planned third anime season show that the story is still expanding; whether it gets “better and better” is a judgment about its creative execution, not a conclusion established by release announcements or a popularity statistic.
What is Dan Da Dan about?
Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga begins with Momo Ayase and her classmate Okarun arguing over whether ghosts or aliens are real. Each tries to prove the other wrong, and their tests lead them into encounters with paranormal threats. The result combines occult action with a coming-of-age story, while the leads’ opposing beliefs and growing connection give the spectacle a human counterpoint. Shueisha’s Volume 1 page introduces the manga; VIZ’s official series page sums up the setup as a boy into UFOs colliding with a girl into ghosts.

Why the story can keep developing
The premise is built to generate clashes: belief versus skepticism, aliens versus ghosts, and ordinary teenage concerns versus extraordinary danger. That gives the story room to vary its threats without abandoning the relationship at its center. Its appeal, then, need not rest on making every new encounter bigger; the supernatural conflict can keep testing how Momo and Okarun respond to each other and to the world around them.
That is a critical case for why Dan Da Dan may feel increasingly assured to some readers and viewers—not proof that every installment is an improvement. A season announcement, a staff list, or a circulation figure cannot establish artistic progress on its own.

How the manga and anime are continuing
Shueisha announced on September 19, 2025 that production of a third TV anime season had been decided. VIZ lists Season 1 as 12 episodes from 2024, Season 2 as 12 episodes from 2025, and Season 3 as coming in 2027. That listing gives a year, not a precise premiere date. The official Japanese Aniplex Season 2 schedule dates the second season’s broadcast start to July 3, 2025 and gives Japanese network schedules.
The manga is also ongoing on Shonen Jump+. VIZ’s chapter listing displayed chapter 247, dated October 5, 2026, as its latest free chapter when checked. VIZ notes that the latest free chapters available through its MANGA Plus partner can vary by a reader’s location, so check the official chapter service for your territory.

What the anime’s credits do—and do not—tell you
For Season 2, official credits name Science SARU as animation producer, Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora as directors, Hiroshi Seko for series composition and script, and kensuke ushio for music. Those names make the adaptation’s creative team specific, but credits alone do not show that one season is better than another.
On the official staff page, manga creator Yukinobu Tatsu praised the team, saying: “Science SARU who has always impressed me with their work and the immensely popular voice actors who I have been listening to in so many famous titles are all willing to work on DAN DA DAN. This is indeed a dream come true for me.” It is a creator’s expression of enthusiasm, not an independent assessment of the finished anime.

Choose the format that fits how you want to follow it
| Option | What the official listings establish | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Manga | Shonen Jump+ serialization; VIZ’s chapter page displayed chapter 247, dated October 5, 2026, as the latest free chapter when checked. Availability varies by location. | You prefer reading and want to follow the ongoing source story beyond the released anime seasons. |
| Anime | VIZ lists two 12-episode seasons, released in 2024 and 2025, and a third season coming in 2027. | You prefer watching the adaptation and want to follow its season releases. |
| Physical anime media | Aniplex lists Blu-ray/DVD releases for Seasons 1 and 2, as well as original soundtrack CDs. Exact editions and availability depend on territory and retailer. | You want physical ownership or the soundtrack rather than relying only on chapter or episode access. |
The official listings establish these formats, but not that one is universally superior. Check regional access and release details before choosing a particular edition or service.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What “better and better” can fairly mean
There is concrete evidence of continuation: the manga remains serialized, two 12-episode anime seasons have been listed, and VIZ gives 2027 for Season 3. Aniplex’s Season 2 page also reports more than 10 million copies in cumulative circulation, an undated publisher/distributor figure—not a measure of quality or proof of a rising trend.

Those facts support saying that Dan Da Dan is an active, expanding franchise. They do not establish a comparative quality score, a viewership increase, or audience consensus that each installment improves on the last. The title’s “better and better” is most persuasive as a reader’s or viewer’s response to the way the series develops its characters and premise, rather than as a measurable claim.
