From the original series to White Water
According to TVLine, Hurt first appeared in the original Gold Rush during its debut season, which aired on Discovery in 2010. After leaving that series following Season 4, he returned to the franchise with Dustin in the White Water spinoff in 2018.
The spinoff shifted the setting and mining premise: the Los Angeles Times described it as set in Alaska’s remote Chilkat Mountains, while TVLine characterized the operation as mining whitewater pools at the bases of waterfalls. The show followed the hazardous work of searching for gold in those waterways.
