Yes: Daisy Ridley said she would love to see Finn become a Jedi in the upcoming Rey film. But she also stressed that the decision is not hers, so her comment is a personal wish—not confirmation that John Boyega will appear or that Finn’s story will take that turn.
What Daisy Ridley said about Finn
In an interview reported by Germain Lussier for Gizmodo’s io9 on April 2, 2024, Ridley was asked whether Finn could become a Jedi in the upcoming movie. She answered, “That is above my pay grade,” then added, “I would love to see that, but that is not a decision for me.” Read the interview report at io9.
The two parts of her answer matter together: Ridley is enthusiastic about the possibility, while making clear she does not decide the film’s story. It does not establish that Finn is in the film, that Boyega is returning, or that Finn will become a Jedi.
What Lucasfilm has confirmed about the Rey film
Lucasfilm announced the film at Star Wars Celebration Europe on April 7, 2023. The official description says it takes place after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, with Ridley returning as Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order. The announcement did not name Finn or give the film a release date. Lucasfilm’s announcement of the new Star Wars films.

That premise makes Ridley’s hope about Finn easy to understand: the story is centered on a new Jedi Order. But the announced premise is not a promise about which characters will join it. Finn’s involvement remains unconfirmed by the sources available here.
Is the movie in production, and when will it be released?
The official Lucasfilm productions listing reviewed for this article does not include the announced film, and Lucasfilm’s leadership announcement provides no Rey-film update or release date. Those omissions do not prove the project has been canceled, nor do they establish that it is currently in production. The film’s current production status and release timing therefore remain unresolved in the official materials cited here. Lucasfilm productions · Lucasfilm leadership announcement.
