The Laura/X-23 who appears in Deadpool & Wolverine is the same character Dafne Keen played in Logan, not a variant. Keen made that clarification in an appearance on ComicBook.com’s Phase Zero podcast, as reported by GamesRadar+ and Gizmodo.
Which X-23 appears in Deadpool & Wolverine?
It is the Laura from Logan. Keen returned to the role in Deadpool & Wolverine and described the character as the same Laura, rather than a separate version from another timeline. The answer resolves the central identity question without requiring viewers to treat the film’s multiverse premise as proof that every returning character is a variant.

What the film’s Void setting does—and does not—confirm
Laura appears among the characters in the Void, where the film brings together figures with histories tied to other stories. That setting supplies the context for her appearance, but Keen’s reported clarification is specifically about who she is: the same Laura seen in Logan.
It does not, by itself, establish a complete account of how Laura reached the Void or what happened to her between the two films. Those are separate timeline questions; viewers should not mistake deductions about them for Keen’s confirmed statement.
#1 Best Overall
- Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake yet. His days as Deadpool behind him, a listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. But when his homeworld is threatened, he reluctantly suits up as he tries to convince Wolverine? oh hell, just watch. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
Why Logan is the key comparison
Logan is the earlier film that establishes Keen’s Laura and her connection to Logan. Rewatching it offers the clearest point of comparison for the character who returns in Deadpool & Wolverine. GamesRadar+ and Gizmodo both reported Keen’s same-character clarification, while ComicBook.com’s coverage links it to her Phase Zero interview.
