The same announcement raised monthly prices for Fan, Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan. There is an important caveat: Crunchyroll’s current general plan page promotes offline viewing for Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan, not Fan, and says benefits can vary by tier and region. So the announcement does not establish that Fan downloads are available everywhere today.
Which Crunchyroll plans include offline downloads?
In its February 2, 2026 U.S. announcement, Crunchyroll described offline downloads as a new Fan benefit, limited to one device, and listed offline HD downloads for Mega Fan. It also listed offline viewing as a benefit of Ultimate Fan, without specifying video quality in that tier’s entry.

However, Crunchyroll’s current premium-plan page advertises offline viewing for Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan, while warning that benefits may differ by subscription tier and region. The pages do not explain the difference. Check the plan details shown for your country and device before subscribing specifically for Fan downloads.
U.S. monthly prices and stated benefits
The figures below are the monthly prices in Crunchyroll’s U.S. announcement, not a global price list. Crunchyroll said existing monthly subscribers would see the new rates on their next billing date after March 4, 2026. Annual-plan promotions and regional billing may change the comparison.

| Plan | Announced U.S. price | Offline-viewing wording in the announcement | Other stated differences |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fan | $9.99/month | Downloads on one device, marked new | Ad-free viewing and full library; store discount in specified regions |
| Mega Fan | $13.99/month | Offline HD downloads | Four concurrent streams, Game Vault and store-related perks in specified regions |
| Ultimate Fan | $17.99/month | Offline viewing; quality not specified in this plan entry | Six concurrent streams and additional perks |
These are the benefits stated in the U.S. announcement; they should not be assumed to apply in every country or app. Crunchyroll’s plan page says availability varies by tier and region.
How to choose a tier for watching offline
- Compare the actual local plan details. The Fan announcement and current general plan marketing differ, so confirm that offline viewing is listed for the specific tier offered to you.
- Check quality and device needs. The announcement specifies HD downloads for Mega Fan and one device for the new Fan benefit. It does not give equivalent detail for Ultimate Fan in that comparison.
- Consider household streaming and extras. The U.S. announcement lists four simultaneous streams and Game Vault for Mega Fan, and six streams plus additional perks for Ultimate Fan.
- Compare billing terms, not just monthly prices. The cited prices are monthly U.S. rates; annual offers and local billing may differ.
Nintendo Switch is a separate case
Nintendo’s FAQ says offline viewing in the Crunchyroll Switch app is available only to Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan members. It also says service on supported Switch systems is scheduled to end on October 30, 2026; existing users can continue until then. The FAQ says the app is not compatible with Switch 2.

Downloading episodes on Switch
Nintendo documents syncing an episode or a whole season. Downloads use an inserted microSD card, or internal storage if no card is inserted. Syncing pauses while a video is playing and resumes when the app is open and connected again. Nintendo gives no fixed number-of-video cap; available storage is the limit.
Nintendo strongly recommends a microSD card because offline content can use substantial storage, but says it is not required. That guidance is specific to the Switch app; it does not establish a storage requirement for phone downloads.

What remains unclear
The official pages cited here do not resolve why the February 2026 U.S. announcement says Fan includes one-device offline downloads while Crunchyroll’s current general plan page markets offline viewing for Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan. They also do not establish download eligibility across every region and app, a complete list of downloadable titles, or download expiration rules. For those details, rely on current, region-specific plan information and support material rather than assuming a feature works the same on every device.
