The Conor McGregor Popeye the Sailor Man trailer is a fan-made concept video—not an official film trailer or evidence that McGregor was cast as Popeye. Contemporary reports in April and May 2024 attributed it to KH Studio and described a mix of AI-generated imagery and footage from existing films.
Is the Conor McGregor Popeye trailer real?
It is real as an online video, but it is not an official trailer for a confirmed McGregor movie. Dexerto identified KH Studio as the uploader and reported that the video description called it a “concept trailer created solely for artistic and entertainment purposes.” That label matters: a concept trailer presents an imagined project; it does not announce one.
Reports described the edit as combining AI-generated imagery with clips from other films, including McGregor footage from Road House and material from The Mercy. Those descriptions are reporting about how the video was assembled, not an independent technical examination of every shot.
Who made the Popeye trailer with Conor McGregor?
The video was attributed to KH Studio by contemporaneous coverage. We Got This Covered quoted the creator’s description as saying the trailer used “various effects, sound design, AI technologies, movie analytics, and other elements” and was intended to entertain and showcase creativity. That wording is attributed to the video description through the publication’s report.

The Mary Sue also noted footage from Road House. It characterized a close-up of McGregor as likely AI-generated, but that was the writer’s inference rather than a verified production fact.
Is Conor McGregor playing Popeye?
No casting announcement in the cited reporting connects McGregor to Popeye. His appearance in a concept edit—whether through existing footage, generated imagery, or a combination—does not establish that he has been hired for a film.

Is there actually a live-action Popeye movie?
A separate live-action project was reported in development in March 2024. ComingSoon’s May 21, 2024 explainer, citing Variety’s March report, said Chernin Entertainment and King Features were collaborating on a Popeye movie, with Michael Caleo writing and a studio partner still being sought. That report did not name McGregor as cast.
The 2024 development report is not proof that the film was completed, that it remains active, or that it has a release plan. Its status as of October 8, 2026 is not established by the available reporting cited here, so the concept trailer should not be treated as an update on that separate project.
