That sequence follows the franchise’s main film continuity without mixing in animated series, shorts, books, or other tie-ins whose exact placement is a separate question.
What order should you watch the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies in?
The simplest film-only order is the theatrical release sequence. The years below are release years, not a complete list of in-story calendar dates.
- Jurassic Park (1993)
- The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
- Jurassic Park III (2001)
- Jurassic World (2015)
- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
- Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
- Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)
The first three films make up the original Jurassic Park trilogy. Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom, and Dominion form the next trilogy; Rebirth is the subsequent theatrical chapter. The release order is the practical choice for viewers following the movies alone.
How does the film timeline work?
Release dates and story chronology are not interchangeable. The first film opened nationwide on June 11, 1993, according to NBCUniversal’s 2023 anniversary account. The later films make some story intervals clear, but the official facts cited here do not establish an exact calendar year for every installment.

Jurassic Park to Jurassic World: 22 years
Amblin’s page for Jurassic World states that the film was released 22 years after the original and is set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park. In its story, a dinosaur theme park has finally become a reality on the ruins of John Hammond’s failed park.
Dominion to Rebirth: five years
Universal’s official Rebirth synopsis places the story five years after Dominion. It describes a world where dinosaurs are largely unable to thrive outside isolated equatorial environments and an extraction team seeking genetic material on a former research island. The synopsis gives a relative interval, not a specific in-story year.

What does this film-only timeline include?
This order covers the seven theatrical films, through Rebirth. It does not claim to place every screen story or other franchise work. The animated series Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory, along with shorts such as Battle at Big Rock, belong to a broader viewing discussion; their episode-by-episode or scene-by-scene positions are not established by the official timeline facts cited here.
Books, games, and theme-park material are also not additional entries in this theatrical film sequence. If you want an expanded continuity watch order, treat it as a separate list and check each tie-in’s placement rather than inserting it between films based only on release dates or assumptions.

Why release order is the clearest viewing route
The films’ release sequence gives viewers the theatrical narrative in the order audiences encountered it, while keeping the two documented time jumps clear: 22 years between the events of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, and five years between Dominion and Rebirth. Universal’s corporate history dates Jurassic Park to 1993 and Jurassic World to 2015; those are release-era references, not a complete calendar for the fictional world. Universal Pictures’ history also describes Jurassic Park as a film with more than $1 billion in worldwide receipts.
