Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For a video that must repeat continuously as a vertical YouTube Live stream, StreamNeo is the first service to try: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, supports up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Among the other services compared here, Restream documents a scheduled video replaying up to 10 times—not an indefinite loop. StreamYard documents scheduled prerecorded broadcasts but its reviewed guide does not establish repeat playback. YouTube’s Live Control Room supports vertical live output, but the reviewed YouTube guide does not establish prerecorded looping.
The key distinction is between making a video vertical, scheduling a prerecorded live event, and repeating that event indefinitely. Those are separate capabilities; confirm the exact playback behavior and output format you need before committing to a service.
Which service fits your looping requirement?
| Service | Prerecorded scheduling and repetition | Vertical YouTube output | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Loops uploaded videos and playlists 24/7 from the cloud. | Streams to YouTube; uploaded video plays as made, up to 4K 60fps. | One always-on stream per slot; the first day is free with no card. See StreamNeo. |
| Restream Upload & Stream | Schedules prerecorded videos or playlists and documents replaying a scheduled video up to 10 times. | Restream says the stream must be 9:16 to appear in the Shorts feed. | The documented limit is 10 replays; it does not establish an indefinite loop. Restream’s Upload & Stream guide (July 25, 2026). |
| StreamYard | Schedules prerecorded broadcasts to start automatically and end when the video finishes; the reviewed guide does not say the video repeats. | Landscape plus portrait output to YouTube is available on paid plans and creates two separate posts/destinations. | Prerecorded file, duration, and plan limits apply. StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream guide. |
| YouTube Live Control Room | The reviewed YouTube guide does not establish prerecorded cloud looping. | Supports horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 output, including layout adjustments. | Set up the vertical layout before the stream starts. YouTube’s live-streaming guide (accessed October 3, 2026). |
For a genuine always-on loop, a scheduled event that plays once—or a documented, finite replay count—is not the same thing. StreamNeo is the cloud option in this comparison that explicitly provides 24/7 looping. Restream is the most clearly documented alternative for a limited number of repeats; StreamYard and YouTube’s reviewed guides establish other parts of the workflow, not indefinite replay.
What “vertical live” means on YouTube
YouTube supports horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 live formats. On mobile, viewers can discover vertical live streams while browsing Shorts. YouTube offers vertical layout choices including center crop, fit to phone width, and stacked, with controls to adjust zoom and position. Its default vertical output is a center crop of the horizontal stream. The vertical layout cannot be added after the stream has started, so choose and check it during setup.

YouTube lists differences between vertical and horizontal viewing. Vertical streams can appear in the Shorts feed and be scrolled alongside other live streams. YouTube lists clickable links in chat and channel description, and live pre-roll and mid-roll ads, for horizontal viewing rather than vertical viewing. These format-specific differences matter if your stream depends on links or ad formats.
For a prerecorded video, the source file’s shape matters: a 9:16 file is portrait, while a 16:9 file is landscape. A service may crop or arrange landscape material into a vertical layout, but that changes what the viewer sees. Preview the output, especially faces, captions, and on-screen text, before scheduling a long broadcast.
Service details and limits
StreamNeo: continuous cloud playback
Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo keeps the uploaded video playing from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to remain on. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. Video quality is whatever you upload, up to 4K 60fps; there are no quality tiers. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera.

Restream Upload & Stream: scheduled event with finite replay
Restream documents uploading a single video or a playlist, scheduling it as a prerecorded live event, and replaying a scheduled video up to 10 times. That is useful when a limited number of repeats is enough. Its guide does not establish continuous or unlimited looping, so do not assume a video will run all day or indefinitely.

For Shorts-feed appearance, Restream says the stream needs to be vertical at 9:16. Its vertical guide covers portrait orientation and third-party encoder output; check the current guide for its recommended technical settings before configuring an encoder. Restream separately documents a workflow using its OBS plugin to send landscape and portrait as separate YouTube live events, each with a customizable feed. That dual-output workflow is distinct from a single vertical stream.

StreamYard says a prerecorded broadcast starts automatically at the scheduled time and ends when the video finishes. Its reviewed guide does not say that the video repeats, so it does not establish an always-on loop. The guide lists MP4/H.264 upload, a maximum upload bitrate of 10 Mbps, up to 1080p on paid plans, and plan-specific file-size and video-duration limits. It lists duration limits of 2, 4, or 8 hours depending on plan and scheduling up to 365 days ahead; check the current plan details because these vendor limits can change.

StreamYard’s MARS documentation describes landscape and portrait output to YouTube as two separate posts/destinations. That dual-format YouTube feature is for paid plans and counts as two destinations. Portrait is 9:16. This helps when both orientations are needed, but it is not evidence that one prerecorded video will repeat.

YouTube Live Control Room: native vertical layout, not a documented loop service
YouTube’s Live Control Room can deliver horizontal and vertical formats at the same time and lets you adjust the vertical layout. This is a native option for configuring stream formats, but the reviewed YouTube guide does not establish a prerecorded video loop. If continuous playback is the requirement, verify that a separate playback method or service will keep sending the stream; do not infer looping from YouTube’s vertical-format support.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose based on replay, format, and event setup
- Choose StreamNeo when the priority is continuous prerecorded playback without leaving a computer running, and its YouTube-only service fits your use case.
- Choose Restream Upload & Stream when a scheduled prerecorded event with a documented maximum of 10 replays is enough; confirm current plan and file restrictions for your account.
- Consider StreamYard when scheduled prerecorded playback or paid-plan dual landscape/portrait YouTube posts matter more than a documented repeat loop.
- Use YouTube Live Control Room’s vertical options when you are configuring the stream format natively and have a separate, verified way to provide the video continuously.
Before choosing, answer these questions:
- Must playback continue indefinitely, or is a finite number of replays acceptable?
- Do you need one vertical event, or separate landscape and portrait events/posts?
- Is the source already 9:16, or will cropping and reframing be required?
- Do file duration, resolution, bitrate, storage, or plan restrictions fit the recording?
- Does your YouTube presentation rely on clickable links or ad formats that YouTube lists for horizontal rather than vertical viewing?
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it loops from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
