According to Entertainment Weekly, in a story republished by AOL, Escola was in the press room when Scherzinger’s win was announced and said, “Four years. Four more years!” That wording is secondary reporting rather than a verified transcript or recording.
What did Cole Escola mean by “four more years”?
Entertainment Weekly reported that Escola later explained the comparison as treating a Tony win like a four-year term. The same report described online discussion as people pitting Broadway performers against one another. That account frames the line as a joke about the length of a term; the available reporting does not establish a more specific intent.

Were Escola and Scherzinger competing for the same award?
No. They won in different categories, for different productions: Escola in a play, Scherzinger in a musical. The “four more years” line followed Scherzinger’s win, but the official results show no head-to-head competition between the two performers.
