Citytv+ is available as a standalone subscription in Canada, so you do not need a cable, satellite or IPTV package to subscribe directly. As listed on August 18, 2026, plans cost $9.99 per month or $99 per year; a Citytv+ and Sportsnet+ bundle costs $31.99 per month. The monthly and bundle prices are scheduled to rise on September 22, 2026. The key caveat: a Citytv+ subscription bought through Prime Video is separate from one bought through Citytv’s own website or app.
What changed with Citytv+?
Rogers announced the direct-to-consumer expansion on September 22, 2025. Before that, viewers could encounter Citytv programming through free or TV-provider-authenticated online options, or subscribe to Citytv+ as a Prime Video channel. The expansion made a direct subscription available through Citytv’s own website and apps. It is a new way to subscribe, not a promise that every Citytv program is included or that every device works. Rogers’ announcement describes the launch.
Direct-to-consumer means you can pay Rogers for Citytv+ without first buying a traditional television package. It does not mean the service is available worldwide, that Sportsnet+ comes with the basic plan, or that a subscription purchased through another platform works in Citytv’s own apps. Citytv+ is marketed to Canadian viewers, with plans priced in Canadian dollars; do not assume it is generally available in the United States or elsewhere.
What programming does Citytv+ include?
The subscription page lists programming associated with Citytv, Bravo, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery, Investigation Discovery (ID), Magnolia Network, FX, FXX, Cooking Channel, OWN, Discovery Science, Animal Planet and MotorTrend. It advertises live channels and thousands of hours of on-demand programming. The page also says subscribers can stream CityNews 24/7 and OMNI Television.

These are examples promoted at launch, not a guarantee of a permanent catalogue. Channel feeds, titles, seasons and episodes can change with programming rights; check the service for a specific show before subscribing.

Which devices support Citytv+?
Compatibility depends on the exact model and operating-system version. The official device support list gives these requirements and maximum resolutions:
Rank #2

- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.

Apple TV 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations, older Fire TV Stick models, Fire Tablets and Chromecast device models are not supported. Chromecast support ended June 25, 2025. Resolution is not uniform: the published device matrix tops out at 1080p and lists 720p for several Android and Fire TV configurations. It does not establish 4K streaming. Check your model and operating-system version before subscribing if your setup depends on a particular device.

- 4K picture quality: With Roku Streaming Stick Plus, watch your favorites with brilliant 4K picture and vivid HDR color.

Monthly or annual?
At $99 per year, the annual plan works out to $8.25 per month when averaged over 12 months. Compared with paying $9.99 monthly for a full year, it saves $20.88 before tax. Citytv describes the annual price as 12 months for the price of 10, a 17% discount. The annual plan makes sense if you expect to keep the service for roughly ten months or longer; monthly billing gives more flexibility if you only want a particular show, season or short viewing period. See the official plan details.
How do you subscribe directly?
- Go to the Citytv+ subscription page.
- Choose Monthly, Annual or the Citytv+/Sportsnet+ bundle and review the displayed price and trial terms.
- Create a Citytv+ account or sign in to an existing one, then complete payment.
- Install the Citytv+ app on a supported device, or watch through a supported browser.
- Sign in with the Citytv+ account used for the direct subscription.
If you subscribe through Prime Video instead, use the Citytv+ channel inside Prime Video. That subscription is separate and cannot be used to sign in to Citytvplus.ca or the standalone Citytv+ app. The official Prime Video sign-in guidance explains the distinction.

Direct Citytv+ or the Prime Video channel?
| Subscription route | Where you can watch | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Citytvplus.ca or Citytv+ app | Citytv+ website and supported Citytv+ apps | Direct account and billing; a Prime Video channel subscription does not grant access. |
| Citytv+ through Prime Video | Within Prime Video | Separate subscription and billing; it does not transfer to Citytvplus.ca or the Citytv+ app. |
| Traditional TV provider | According to the provider’s package and viewing options | May include a wider channel lineup, but requires a television subscription; exact channels and costs depend on the provider. |
Choose the route based on where you want to watch and manage billing. If you already pay through Prime Video but cannot sign in to the Citytv+ app, use Prime Video to watch that subscription; resetting a Citytv+ password will not convert it into a direct account. To use the standalone apps, you would need a separate direct subscription.

- Seamless streaming for any room: With Roku Streaming Stick 4K, watch your favorite entertainment on any TV in the house, even in rooms farther from your router thanks to the long-range Wi-Fi receiver.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
Can Citytv+ replace cable?
It can replace some of the entertainment and lifestyle programming in a television package, especially if you want its listed channels and on-demand catalogue without paying for a broader bundle. It is not necessarily a full cable replacement: the included lineup is limited to the service’s channels and rights, basic Citytv+ does not include Sportsnet+, and specific titles may leave or vary. Compare the shows and live channels you actually watch with what you would lose from your current package, including any provider features you rely on.
- Likely fit: Canadian viewers who want Citytv and associated entertainment, lifestyle or factual programming, live channels plus on-demand viewing, and no full TV package.
- Less compelling: Viewers whose current TV package already supplies the same programming, who mainly watch titles available through subscriptions they already have, or who need channels outside Citytv+.
- Poor fit: People outside Canada, Chromecast-only households, viewers requiring 4K, or viewers whose main priority is sports rather than Citytv+ programming.
Is the Sportsnet+ bundle worth it?
The bundle listed at $31.99 per month on August 18, 2026 combines Citytv+ Monthly with Sportsnet+ Standard Monthly. Citytv describes it as “one price, two subscriptions,” with access to sports including NHL, MLB, NBA and UFC. The listed bundle price is scheduled to rise to $36.99 per month on September 22, 2026. Sports rights and package details can change, so check the current bundle terms before signing up.
The bundle is most relevant if your household wants both Citytv+ programming and Sportsnet+ sports. If you want entertainment only, compare the bundle with the $9.99 monthly or $99 annual Citytv+ plan instead. The current Sportsnet+ standalone price is not established here, so a reliable savings comparison against buying the services separately cannot be made from these listed prices alone. See the official bundle details.

Common compatibility and account problems
Chromecast is your main way to watch
Citytv+ lists Chromecast device models as unsupported. Use a supported smart-TV or streaming-device app, or watch through a supported browser instead. If you already own another supported device, there is no need to buy new hardware just for Citytv+.
Your Apple TV or Fire TV is an older model
Compatibility depends on generation, not just the product name. Apple TV 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations and older Fire TV Stick models are not supported. Check the official device list against your exact model before subscribing or replacing equipment.
Your video looks softer than expected
The published maximum is 720p on several Android and Fire TV configurations, even though other listed devices reach 1080p. Confirm the limit for your device in the compatibility table if picture quality is a deciding factor.
Your Prime Video subscription will not sign in
That is expected: Prime Video and direct Citytv+ subscriptions use separate access arrangements. Watch through Prime Video, or subscribe separately through Citytv’s website if you want access to Citytv+’s own apps and website.
