What McVie’s family said when she died
McVie’s family initially announced that she had died peacefully in hospital after a short illness, without naming a specific cause. CBS News reproduced the family’s statement: “She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family.”
The Associated Press likewise reported at the time that no cause or further details had initially been provided. The family’s brief announcement and the later reporting about the death certificate are consistent: the specific medical details became public months after her death.
