In a June 2019 People CHICA feature, Chiquis Rivera and Lorenzo Méndez were engaged and discussing their wedding plans. Rivera described two possible locations and two different wedding styles; the article also recounted Méndez’s 2018 proposal and Rivera’s wish to enjoy newlywed life before having a child. Those details describe what the couple said and what the feature reported at the time, not their current relationship status.
What the 2019 feature said about the wedding
People CHICA’s Lena Hansen reported on June 25, 2019, that Rivera and Méndez were taking steps toward a wedding and choosing between two locations. Rivera described one possibility as a ranchera celebration: “We are taking steps, we are deciding between two locations for the wedding. I would love to have a ranchera wedding, to wear a typical Mexican dress and have him wear a mariachi suit,” she told the publication.
Rivera also imagined a December wedding with snow and all-white décor. The feature presented these as ideas the couple was considering, not as a finalized date, venue, or confirmed plan.
Why fans wondered if they had married secretly
The feature noted that romantic posts from Rivera and Méndez had prompted speculation that they might already have married in secret. It reported that speculation but did not confirm a private ceremony.

How Méndez proposed
According to the feature, Méndez proposed in 2018 while riding a white horse. The proposal was shown on The Riveras, with Rivera’s family present at a California vineyard.
What Rivera said about having a child
In the same 2019 interview, Rivera said she wanted to wait before having a child and first travel and enjoy life as newlyweds. She described Méndez as respecting her decision: “If it was up to Lorenzo, I would already be pregnant [naturally], but he is waiting for me, he respects me as a woman and respects my decisions,” she said.
