Cher: The Memoir, Part One was published in the United States by Dey Street Books on November 19, 2024. The first volume follows Cher from childhood through meeting and marrying Sonny Bono, including the complicated relationship behind their public partnership. The announcement described a two-part project, but no confirmed publication date for Part Two is established by the sources cited here.
When did Cher: The Memoir, Part One come out?
Rolling Stone reported on July 24, 2024, that Dey Street Books would publish Cher: The Memoir, Part One in the United States on November 19, 2024. That date is historical, not a forthcoming release date. Rolling Stone’s announcement described the book as the first of two memoir volumes.
What does the first volume cover?
HarperCollins’ publisher description places the story from Cher’s childhood through meeting and marrying Sonny Bono. It includes the personal relationship behind Sonny & Cher, not only the making of the famous duo. Rolling Stone’s announcement describes an arc from Cherilyn Sarkisian’s childhood and early ambition to her rise and the formation of the musical partnership.
The publisher announcement characterized Cher as a young performer who succeeded “with no plan and little confidence.” That is publisher language, not a quotation from Cher. HarperReach’s catalog listing identifies the volume as Part One of a two-part memoir.

What Cher said about writing it
In a November 25, 2024, Vogue interview with Liam Hess, Cher said she had restarted the work at least twice, “maybe even three.” She also recalled deciding, “If you’re going to write this book, you’ve got to tell more.” The comments offer context for the memoir’s scope: Cher said she initially resisted including some material, then concluded that the story required more candor.
Vogue describes the book as candid about Cher’s childhood and relationships. Those are memoir accounts; they should be read as Cher’s recollections rather than treated as independently corroborated reporting. Similarly, CBS News’ excerpt about Cher’s childhood reaction to seeing Elvis Presley perform was reprinted with HarperCollins’ permission, so it is an authorized autobiographical passage, not separate confirmation of the events.

Edition details and formats
Edition information varies by territory. HarperReach lists a UK HarperCollins hardcover at 432 pages, ISBN 978-0-00-835534-0, with a November 19, 2024 release date. Those specifications identify that UK edition and should not be assumed to apply to every U.S. or international edition.
CBS News’ November 17, 2024 coverage listed hardcover, ebook, and audio formats, and linked to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Bookshop.org. The listing establishes the formats and purchase destinations referenced at that time, not present-day inventory or prices. Check the retailer’s territory, format, and edition details before ordering.

Is Part Two coming, and when?
The original 2024 announcement anticipated Part Two in 2025, but that was an expectation reported at the time, not a confirmed current schedule. In January 2025, as reported by Kirkus Reviews, Cher told Jimmy Kimmel she thought the memoir project was done. She also said she did not want to compress the material into one book and wanted to see how readers responded to the first. Her remark did not give Part Two a publication date, so the sources cited here do not establish when—or whether—it will be released.
