The two-day waterfront festival celebrated Mandurah’s blue manna crab with local-food themes, live entertainment, rides and activities for families.
When and where was Mandurah Crab Fest 2024?
The festival took place on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March 2024. Its footprint ran through Mandurah’s city centre and waterfront, including the Eastern and Western Foreshores, Mandjar Square and Mandurah Ocean Marina. The event was spread across several connected public spaces rather than confined to one foreshore site. PerthNow’s Mandurah Times preview outlined the event footprint and dates.
How many people attended?
PerthNow’s Mandurah Times reported on 19 March that “Well more than 100,000 people attended this year’s Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest.” A Peel Development Commission 2024 publication also described well over 100,000 visitors. These are rounded reported figures; the cited accounts do not give an exact audited count or counting method.
What was on at the festival?
Crab and regional food were central themes, alongside music and a broad program of public entertainment. Reported attractions included stilt walkers, children’s entertainment and sideshow rides. The City’s advance announcement also listed action sports, police demonstrations, a nature playground, interactive activities and family entertainment.

Mayor Rhys Williams described the plans in the City of Mandurah’s 28 February 2024 media release: “We’re gearing up for an action-packed Crab Fest weekend, with a massive program of events, entertainment and activities free for the whole family”. What the festival meant for Mandurah
The City presented Crab Fest as a way to celebrate Mandurah’s blue manna crab and regional food, promote local businesses and encourage overnight visitation. Those are the event’s themes and aims, not measured outcomes for the 2024 edition. A Western Australian Government announcement in 2023 said previous editions averaged more than 100,000 attendees and injected more than $1.1 million into the Peel region. That historical average should not be read as a 2024 economic-impact result.
