Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, released by Sony’s Crunchyroll, finished first at the North American box office over October 24–26, 2025. Reports put its opening at $17.2 million to $17.25 million, ahead of Disney/20th Century’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which earned about $9 million to $9.1 million.
What happened at the box office?
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc topped the North American weekend chart during its October 24–26, 2025 opening. Variety reported $17.2 million from 3,003 North American theaters; the Associated Press, citing Comscore, reported $17.25 million in the United States and Canada. These are separately reported estimates, with different precision and territory wording, rather than a single exact figure.
The result was a clear opening-weekend lead over Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, the Disney/20th Century release. Variety put the film at about $9 million, while the Associated Press and TheWrap reported $9.1 million.
How large was the gap?
| Film | Reported opening | Territory and theater detail | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc | $17.2 million | North America; 3,003 theaters | Variety |
| Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc | $17.25 million | United States and Canada | Associated Press, citing Comscore |
| Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere | About $9 million | North America; theater count not stated by Variety in the cited figure | Variety |
| Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere | $9.1 million | United States and Canada; theater count not stated in the cited reports | Associated Press and TheWrap |
Using the Associated Press figures, the reported opening difference was $8.15 million. Since box-office totals can be estimates and reports may use different rounding or territory descriptions, it is more useful to treat the headline comparison as roughly $17.2 million versus roughly $9.1 million than to suggest accounting precision beyond the reports.

What does “topples Disney” mean here?
It describes one specific weekend ranking: the Crunchyroll release opened ahead of Disney/20th Century’s Springsteen biopic in North America on October 24–26, 2025. It does not mean Sony beat Disney across the year, across all releases, or in overall box-office business. The cited weekend reports do not establish any of those broader comparisons.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why is this an anime milestone?
The film adapts Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga, and its opening added another strong North American theatrical result for anime. The figure is a reported opening-weekend gross, not a study of audience preferences or evidence about anime’s total market share. Variety’s account gives the release a 3,003-theater footprint, helping explain the scale of its theatrical launch.
