The available reports do not verify a complete list of 15 celebrities who “got beat up in a bar fight.” They describe a handful of different incidents: some inside bars, some on sidewalks or streets, and some involving group brawls rather than a one-sided beating. Here is what the reporting supports—and what it does not.
Why there isn’t a verified list of 15
A headline saying someone “got beat up in a bar fight” makes three claims: that the person was hurt, that the event was a fight, and that it happened in a bar. The reports available for these examples do not consistently support all three. They also vary in sourcing: some describe video or reported injuries, while others relay another outlet’s account or quote an allegation.
The cases below are therefore not a definitive ranking or a complete 15-person lineup. They are the incidents for which the available reports provide enough detail to explain the setting and the limits of the claim.
What the reports say about the incidents
Shia LaBeouf: punched outside a bar, 2011
ABC News described video showing LaBeouf being punched on a sidewalk outside a bar. The report’s setting matters: it supports saying he was struck outside the venue, not that he was beaten inside it. Some surrounding details in the report were attributed to witness accounts. ABC News’ report.

Sean Bean: arm injury during a London bar altercation, 2012
CBS News reported that Bean was stabbed in the arm during an incident at a London bar, attributing its account to the Daily Mail. That supports a cautiously phrased report of an injury during a bar altercation; it does not establish that Bean was knocked unconscious or “beaten up.” CBS News’ account.
Steve Buscemi: multiple stab wounds in a group brawl, 2000
ABC News reported that Buscemi suffered multiple stab wounds during a bar brawl involving Vince Vaughn, Scott Rosenberg, and others. Its account describes a rowdy crewmember incident and says police saw the struggle and broke it up. This was a complex group altercation, not evidence of a simple one-sided beating. ABC News’ report.
Zac Efron: punched in a Skid Row brawl, 2014
TIME reported that Efron was punched during a brawl on Skid Row. The report identifies the setting as a street area, not a bar, so it does not substantiate describing this incident as a bar fight. TIME’s report.
Brody Jenner and Joe Francis: allegations after a 2009 bar fight
TMZ reported a bar fight, said security separated the participants, and reported that police were called. The story included Jenner’s accusation that Francis beat Jenner’s partner. That is an attributed allegation, not an independently established finding in the available account. The report does not justify turning the accusation into a proven description of what happened. TMZ’s report.
How to read “celebrity bar fight” headlines
These stories are easier to assess when the setting, conduct, and sourcing are kept separate:
- Location: A fight inside a bar is not the same as an altercation on the sidewalk outside one or a street brawl elsewhere.
- What happened: Being punched, sustaining a reported injury, and being “beaten up” are not interchangeable descriptions. A group brawl also does not by itself establish that one person was the sole aggressor or victim.
- Strength of the account: A reported event, an account attributed to another publication, and a participant’s allegation carry different evidentiary weight. Attribute claims rather than presenting them as established findings.
On the available reporting, only some incidents are clearly described as occurring at a bar, and even those do not all support the phrase “got beat up.” The other examples are relevant to celebrity altercations, but not to a strict list of people beaten in bar fights.
