Here are the actresses who have played Catwoman or Selina Kyle in live-action screen productions, in chronological order by their first listed appearance. The sequence includes the 1960s Batman television series, its separate 1966 feature film, and later films and television. It is not a ranking.

Pair each entry with a correctly licensed, credited image. The captions below identify the performer, production, year, and medium so the original TV series is not confused with its related feature film.

Julie Newmar — Batman (1966–1967), television
Newmar was the first actress to portray Catwoman in the 1960s television series, appearing in its first and second seasons. The series began before the 1966 feature film.

Lee Meriwether — Batman (1966), feature film
Meriwether played Catwoman opposite Adam West in the theatrical Batman film, released after the television series’ first season. This is a film role, not a season of the series.

A secondary overview also lists Simmons among live-action Catwoman portrayals associated with Gotham. The official DC references cited here do not mention her, so confirm the specific episode and image credit before using a detailed caption.

Why the order matters
The first three entries come from two different productions in the same era: Newmar and Kitt played Catwoman in the television series, while Meriwether played her in the 1966 feature film. The feature film followed the show’s first season, so Meriwether’s screen appearance falls between Newmar’s series debut and Kitt’s third-season turn.
Later adaptations do not all present the character in the same way. Several identify Catwoman as Selina Kyle; Berry’s 2004 film centers on a different Catwoman character. The list covers named live-action screen portrayals, not voice roles, animation, games, stunt doubles, or every brief uncredited appearance. It also does not establish whether a live-action portrayal appeared after The Batman (2022).

CBS News’ historical gallery offers credited images, and DC’s character page features screen portrayals, but neither source by itself establishes permission to republish its images.
