If a Castr stream will not start on YouTube from India, first check whether the YouTube channel is eligible to go live, then identify whether the feed stops before Castr preview or at the YouTube destination. The available official guidance does not establish an India-specific block on Castr encoder streams, so don’t assume your location is the cause.
1. Check YouTube channel eligibility first
YouTube, not Castr, controls whether a channel is permitted to livestream. YouTube’s live-streaming guide says the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its current guidance also says creators must be at least 16 to livestream.
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Channel → Feature eligibility. Check whether the relevant live-streaming features are enabled or restricted. YouTube describes feature access and verification in its feature-access guide.
- Confirm that the channel used for the broadcast is the channel whose eligibility you checked. A restriction may prevent livestreaming from another channel as well.
- If Studio shows a restriction or the channel is not eligible, resolve that with YouTube. Changing Castr’s ingest region or reconnecting a destination cannot remove a YouTube account restriction.
2. Don’t apply mobile requirements to a Castr encoder stream
YouTube’s documented mobile-app route has additional requirements: at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time mobile activation can take up to 24 hours. These are requirements for going live through the mobile app; do not assume the 50-subscriber threshold explains a Castr encoder workflow. Check the channel’s actual feature status in Studio instead. See YouTube’s mobile livestreaming requirements.
3. Find where the feed stops
Castr’s workflow has two distinct legs: your encoder or source sends video to Castr, and Castr sends it to YouTube. The preview is a useful dividing line. Castr’s pre-broadcast test guide recommends testing the source before enabling destinations.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Send the encoder feed to Castr with destinations off. Look for the feed in Castr preview and inspect the input health indicators.
- If the feed never appears in preview, troubleshoot the source-to-Castr leg: encoder output, network connection, and the Castr ingest configuration.
- If preview works but YouTube does not start, focus on the YouTube destination connection, stream URL/key, Studio’s start action, and channel eligibility.
Castr recommends selecting a hosting region near the broadcaster for better ingest quality in its setup guide. This is an ingest-quality recommendation; it is not evidence that the selected Castr region determines YouTube account eligibility.
4. Verify the YouTube destination connection
Castr supports connecting YouTube through an account/API connection or by entering a server URL and stream key. Follow Castr’s YouTube connection guide for the method you chose.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- For a server-and-key setup: confirm the server URL and key correspond to the active YouTube stream. A key for a different or inactive stream can leave the destination waiting even when Castr receives your source.
- For an account/API connection: confirm the intended YouTube account and channel are connected, rather than another account in the same browser session.
- For either method: keep the YouTube Studio live page open and use its Go Live action when required by the workflow. Castr’s troubleshooting guide recommends removing and reconnecting the destination and generating a new YouTube key if connection problems persist: Castr troubleshooting.
Never share or publish a stream key. If you suspect it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the destination that uses it.
5. Run a private or unlisted test before the event
Once the source reaches Castr preview, test the complete path to YouTube without making a public broadcast. Castr recommends a stable wired connection during testing and a private or unlisted YouTube stream. This can help distinguish network or source instability from a destination or account issue; it cannot fix an account restriction or an incorrect key.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Send the encoder feed to Castr and verify the preview before turning on destinations.
- Enable the YouTube destination and start a private or unlisted test stream.
- Check whether YouTube receives the stream and whether Studio allows you to start it.
- If the source or preview drops, investigate the source/network leg. If preview remains healthy but YouTube does not receive or start the stream, revisit the destination credentials and YouTube eligibility.
6. Check audio only when the destination reports an audio problem
Castr’s audio requirements documentation, dated March 18, 2026, says social destinations such as YouTube may reject a feed that has no audio track. If you are sending video only and Castr or YouTube reports an audio-format issue, a silent audio track from the encoder can be a workaround. Treat this as a stream-format issue, not an India-region issue.
Common symptoms and what they point to
| What you see | Likely area to check | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| No feed in Castr preview | Source-to-Castr ingest | Confirm the encoder is sending to the intended Castr input and check input health and network stability. |
| Feed appears in Castr preview, but YouTube does not receive it | Castr-to-YouTube destination | Verify the connected account or active server URL and stream key; reconnect the destination if needed. |
| YouTube receives the stream, but Studio will not let you start | YouTube channel eligibility or required Studio action | Check Feature eligibility and the live page’s status; confirm the channel has no applicable restriction. |
| Mobile livestreaming is unavailable, but Castr is being used as an encoder | Different broadcast methods have different requirements | Check YouTube’s encoder/channel eligibility in Studio rather than treating the mobile subscriber threshold as an encoder rule. |
| Destination reports missing audio | Stream format | Ensure the encoder sends an audio track; for a video-only source, consider a silent track. |
Is India blocking Castr?
The cited YouTube and Castr documentation does not establish a country-specific prohibition on sending an encoder stream from India through Castr to YouTube. YouTube’s India-locale feature-access page covers channel feature access and verification, while the livestream guidance sets out general eligibility rules. The evidence here does not support attributing a failed start to India, recommending a VPN, or treating a Castr region change as a way around YouTube restrictions.
