Its official product page and Nintendo UK listing give August 27 as the release date. The collection includes the three Nintendo DS Castlevania games—but also the 1988 arcade game Haunted Castle and a redesigned version, Haunted Castle Revisited.
Was Castlevania Dominus Collection a shadow drop?
Yes. Konami’s US announcement, dated August 26, 2024, said the collection was then available to download for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam: Konami’s announcement. The official collection page and Nintendo UK listing state August 27, 2024, as the release date. Those are the announcement date and the listed release date; the sources do not establish the exact time-zone mechanics behind the one-day difference.
Which games are included?
The collection has five games or versions in total: three Nintendo DS releases and two takes on Haunted Castle.
| Game | Original release | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow | Nintendo DS, 2005 | Soma Cruz returns a year after Aria of Sorrow. The publisher highlights combining souls to create weapons. |
| Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin | Nintendo DS, 2008 | Switch between Jonathan Morris and Charlotte Aulin with a button press; the two characters have different abilities. |
| Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia | Nintendo DS, 2008 | Shanoa gathers glyphs and absorbs the powers of defeated foes. |
| Haunted Castle | Arcade, 1988 | The original arcade game. |
| Haunted Castle Revisited | New version in the collection | A reimagined, redesigned, visually touched-up, and rebalanced counterpart to the arcade original. |
Konami dates the three DS games’ original releases between 2005 and 2008. The collection is therefore more than a three-game DS package: it also preserves the original Haunted Castle and includes a revised version alongside it.

What extras and modern features does the collection add?
Konami describes its added conveniences as “Quality of Life” functions. They include rewind, quick save, loading at any time, customizable buttons, and customizable display layouts that adapt the games’ original dual screens. Players can switch between regional versions; save data is separate for each version.
- Reference material: a gallery of artwork and development sketches, original booklets and packaging, and an encyclopedia covering enemies, equipment, and items.
- Music: a player that lets you make playlists.
- Touchscreen: Nintendo’s Switch listing confirms touchscreen features, but does not specify which screens or actions use touch.
The dual-screen layout options address a practical challenge of bringing games designed for the Nintendo DS to a single Switch display. The available listings describe customizable layouts but do not enumerate each layout option.
