En Consuelo, Cassandra Sánchez Navarro interpreta a una mujer de la alta sociedad de Ciudad de México en los años cincuenta que, tras ser abandonada por su esposo, debe encontrar cómo sostener a su familia. Su fortaleza se ve en esa respuesta práctica a la pérdida de seguridad y, después, en la autonomía y los deseos que empieza a explorar.
Quién es Consuelo y qué le ocurre
La serie mezcla comedia y drama alrededor de una protagonista cuya vida cambia cuando su esposo la abandona. Sin ingresos seguros, Consuelo busca una forma de mantener a su familia y pone en marcha un negocio de masajeadores femeninos y vibradores, elemento central de la premisa y de las sinopsis oficiales de episodios (ficha de Consuelo en ViX).
El negocio no es solo un detalle provocador: en la historia, representa una salida concreta ante la precariedad y una oportunidad para que Consuelo amplíe el margen de decisión que tenía. La serie presenta ese cambio con humor y drama, sin dejar de situarlo dentro de las expectativas sociales que rodean a la protagonista.
La fortaleza de Consuelo, en palabras de Sánchez Navarro
Sánchez Navarro describió el núcleo del personaje como una historia de resistencia y libertad: “Es un personaje que habla sobre la sobrevivencia, el nunca rendirse y esta libertad no solicitada, que le llegó en un momento donde justo las mujeres podían hacerlo.” La actriz hizo esta reflexión en una entrevista con Excélsior publicada el 11 de abril de 2024 (entrevista con Cassandra Sánchez Navarro).

Al hablar de las restricciones que viven las mujeres representadas en la ficción, también dijo: “Es una locura regresar a ver lo que tenían que vivir esas mujeres que no tenían ni voz ni voto en su propio entorno. No tenían ningún tipo de libertad.” Sus comentarios iluminan su lectura del personaje; no son una afirmación de que la serie documente la experiencia de todas las mujeres de la época.
El contraste con Olga y el contexto de época
Catherine Siachoque interpreta a Olga, un contrapunto conservador para Consuelo dentro de la historia. Esa relación pone en escena distintas respuestas a las normas sociales que rodean a los personajes, en lugar de reducir el conflicto a la búsqueda de ingresos (guía de elenco y personajes de Univision).

Consuelo está ambientada en los años cincuenta, pero es una comedia dramática de ficción, no un retrato documental ni una prueba representativa de toda la sociedad mexicana. Conviene entender sus situaciones y personajes como parte de la propuesta narrativa de la serie.
Producción y temporadas
TelevisaUnivision anunció la primera temporada el 2 de abril de 2024 y fijó su estreno para el 19 de abril de ese año. El comunicado indicó que tendría diez episodios y que se publicarían juntos el día del estreno en el plan premium de ViX; también anunció que el primer episodio podría probarse en el plan gratuito. Esas fueron las condiciones anunciadas en 2024, no una garantía de acceso vigente (anuncio de estreno de TelevisaUnivision).

La empresa anunció el 18 de agosto de 2025 que la segunda temporada se estrenaría el 22 de agosto, con todos sus episodios disponibles exclusivamente en el plan premium de ViX (anuncio de la segunda temporada). La serie fue creada por Juan Carlos Aparicio Schlesinger y Mateo Stivelberg, producida por THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO y dirigida por Kenya Márquez, según el comunicado de estreno.
