Cartia Mallan and Chelsea footballer Ben Chilwell were reported to have split in May 2023. Early coverage called the breakup a rumour; PerthNow later reported that Mallan’s TikTok post confirmed it. The story is from 2023, not a new announcement.
What was reported about the split?
On 5 May 2023, Pulse Sports described reports that Mallan and Chilwell had broken up as rumours, noting that photos of the pair were still on their social media accounts at the time. Pulse Sports’ 5 May report therefore reflected the uncertainty of the early coverage.

On 10 May, PerthNow reported that Mallan’s TikTok post confirmed the split. The outlet quoted her caption: “Did you even break up if you didn’t dramatically change your hair?” It described a change from long, dark hair to a blonde bob. PerthNow’s 10 May report is the later account tying the breakup to Mallan’s post.
What did Mallan say about their relationship?
PerthNow also reported that Mallan replied to a follower that “we are still great friends.” That wording is attributed to Mallan as quoted by PerthNow; the available reporting does not include a comparable public comment from Chilwell. The quotations here are reproduced in the outlet’s account, rather than independently verified transcripts of the original social-media posts.

The reported timeline establishes an early rumour phase, followed by PerthNow’s account of Mallan’s TikTok post and her reported comment that they remained friends. The cited coverage does not establish why the relationship ended or what Chilwell thought about the split. It also does not support treating the story as a new 2026 announcement.
