Disney identifies Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America and Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross. The stills offer a glimpse of Sam in his Captain America suit and Ross in the story that also brings the Red Hulk into view.
What the first-look images show
Disney’s official film page captions an image of Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America alongside Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, and separately identifies Red Hulk as President Thaddeus Ross. Those captions establish who is pictured; details beyond what is plainly visible in a still should not be mistaken for confirmed information about the suit’s construction, its capabilities, or the film’s plot.
For readers looking specifically for Sam Wilson’s new Cap suit, the images place him in the familiar red, white and blue visual language of Captain America, with his wings and flight gear part of the on-screen silhouette. The shield remains a key visual marker. The images are a look at the character’s presentation, not a technical specification of the equipment.
Ford’s presence makes the other reveal especially striking: the official captions identify his character as President Thaddeus Ross, while Disney’s coverage also names Ross as Red Hulk. That pairing gives the images a clear contrast between Sam’s established Captain America imagery and Ross’s dual identity, without requiring the stills to disclose how the story gets there.

Why Sam Wilson’s Captain America is different
Sam took up the Captain America mantle in the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. By the time of Brave New World, Disney says, he has fully embraced the identity. But the role does not make him a super-soldier like Steve Rogers.
Producer Nate Moore called it “the first time we’ve had a Captain America who is not a super-solider,” explaining that Sam must rely on “his humanity and the way that he connects with people to solve the problems of this movie.” Anthony Mackie described that strength more simply: “His brute force is his humanity, his mind, and his compassion — not his muscles.” Director Julius Onah added: “Sam’s got so much heart. That makes him a great Cap, but he’s also very formidable.”

That difference is useful context when looking at the suit. The first-look images present Sam as Captain America, but his distinction from Rogers is not just a change of costume: the filmmakers describe a hero whose defining strengths are judgment, compassion and connection with other people.
What the images establish about Thunderbolt Ross
Harrison Ford plays President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Disney’s official coverage also identifies Ross as Red Hulk. Moore characterized Ross’s arc as becoming “the thing that he hated the most in the beginning.” That is the producer’s description of the character’s trajectory, rather than a full account of the film’s plot.
