Spoilers ahead for Captain America: Brave New World. Sam Wilson does not defeat Red Hulk by overpowering him. He reaches Thaddeus Ross emotionally, and Ross calms down and returns to human form. The film ends with Ross held at the Raft and Sam telling Joaquin Torres he plans to rebuild the Avengers. There is no mid-credits scene, but one scene follows the full credits: Samuel Sterns warns Sam that “the others” are coming.
How does Captain America: Brave New World end?
The climax pits Sam Wilson against Ross in his Red Hulk form. Sam’s drones are destroyed, Ross withstands blows from Sam’s shield, and he tears Sam’s suit. The fight makes clear that Sam cannot win by matching Ross’s strength.
Instead, Sam tries to reach the man beneath the transformation. He appeals to Ross as Betty’s father and urges him to consider repairing his relationship with his estranged daughter. Ross listens, calms down, and changes back into human form. Director Julius Onah described Sam’s superpower as “his empathy and his heart,” as reported by TechRadar.
After a hospital evaluation, Ross is transferred to the Raft. The film does not show him reconciling with Betty; Sam’s appeal is what helps end the immediate confrontation.

Does Sam Wilson beat Red Hulk?
Yes in the sense that Sam stops the rampage, but not in a physical victory. Ross is too powerful for Sam to subdue through force. Sam succeeds by getting Ross to regain control, after which Ross returns to human form.
Does Sam rebuild the Avengers?
Not during this film. Ross asks Sam to help rebuild the Avengers, but no team is assembled onscreen. In the final scene, Sam tells the hospitalized Joaquin Torres that he intends to bring the team back together. It is a stated plan, not a completed reunion.

Is there a post-credits scene?
There is no mid-credits scene. Wait until the full credits have rolled for one post-credits scene: Sam visits Samuel Sterns at the Raft. Sterns warns that “the others” are coming, widening the story beyond the conflict shown in the film. TheWrap also describes Sterns raising the question of what happens when the new Avengers must face “the others.”
The scene does not identify those others or show the coming conflict. It implies a multiverse threat, but a more specific connection to future Marvel stories is interpretation rather than something the film confirms. TIME reads the tease as pointing toward a clash involving parallel universes and Avengers: Secret Wars; that is an outlet’s reading of the unresolved warning, not a precise explanation given onscreen.
