Candy Spelling’s Malibu waterfront home burned in the Palisades Fire, her friend Nikki Haskell told PEOPLE on Jan. 9, 2025. Haskell said Spelling was safe at her Beverly Hills residence while construction was underway at the Malibu property.
What happened to Candy Spelling’s Malibu home?
Haskell confirmed the loss to PEOPLE during the January 2025 Los Angeles fires. She described the property as “the house she owned with Aaron for 50 years” and said, “this feels like an apocalyptic crisis,” according to PEOPLE’s report as carried by Yahoo News. The account is based on Haskell’s statements; it does not describe an independent inspection of the property.
Haskell also said Spelling was safe at her Beverly Hills residence while work was underway at the Malibu home. The report does not establish the fire’s cause or provide details about insurance or the property’s present condition.
Which home was lost?
The fire report concerns Spelling’s Malibu waterfront property, not The Manor, the family’s former Holmby Hills estate. The Los Angeles Times reported in 2019 that Candy and Aaron Spelling bought the Malibu home in 1972 and added the neighboring property in the 1990s. The couple shared the home until Aaron Spelling’s death in 2006.

In that 2019 account, the Times described the Malibu property as having 81 feet of water frontage, more than 8,000 square feet of interior space and seven bedrooms. Those are historical descriptions, not a current property assessment. The Times also reported a $23 million asking price when the home was listed in 2019; that figure was a listing price at the time, not a current valuation or confirmed sale price.
Malibu home and The Manor are separate properties
The Manor was the Spellings’ former Holmby Hills mansion. The Times reported in 2019 that the 56,500-square-foot estate was sold to Petra Ecclestone in 2011 for $85 million. Those historical details distinguish it from the Malibu home Haskell said burned in 2025.

Has Candy Spelling decided to rebuild?
Not in the reporting available here. In an interview reported by TMZ on Jan. 22, 2025, Spelling said she was unsure whether to rebuild and was considering returning to build on the same lot. That is a dated account of her thinking at the time, not confirmation of what she ultimately decided or of the lot’s current status.
