King released Candy Crush Solitaire worldwide for mobile on February 6, 2025. It is a free-to-download TriPeaks solitaire game, not Klondike, combining card-clearing levels with Candy Crush-themed boosters and collectibles.
When did Candy Crush Solitaire launch?
The worldwide mobile release was February 6, 2025. Xbox Wire confirmed the launch date in its February 6 coverage; King’s announcement followed on February 7 and described the game as launching worldwide. Xbox Wire’s launch-day coverage and King’s announcement document the release.
King described the game as free to download. At launch, it named the Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Samsung Galaxy Store and additional stores. Flexion’s January 15 partnership announcement said the planned concurrent distribution included Huawei AppGallery, Xiaomi GetApps and ONE store as well as Amazon, Samsung, Apple and Google. A later King release also described the game as free to download and play on iOS and Android, naming the Apple App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore. Store access can vary by region and change over time, so the launch-era list should not be read as a guarantee that every listing is available everywhere today. Flexion’s partnership announcement provides its planned store list; King’s later release names the platforms in connection with a limited-time Care Bears event.
How do you play Candy Crush Solitaire?
The game uses TriPeaks rules: clear exposed cards by playing a card one rank higher or lower than the available card. Unlike Klondike, the objective is not to build suit sequences in piles. King Executive Producer Marta Cortinas explained the distinction to Xbox Wire: “TriPeaks Solitaire differs from Klondike in that it focuses more on clearing a board by playing cards in ascending or descending order, rather than building suits,”

King adds level progression and Candy Crush-style features to the card game. The launch coverage describes themed obstacles, boosters and postcard collectibles representing places around the world. The mechanics Apple highlighted before launch include a Hold Slot for saving a card to use later, a Color Bomb that clears available cards, and a Lollipop Hammer that removes a selected card. Apple’s App Store feature also described streak rewards: clearing successive cards without drawing fills a meter that can unlock coins, extra cards and other rewards; Apple said clearing cards of the same color or alternating colors can double the reward.
What makes it different from a basic solitaire app?
- TriPeaks rather than Klondike: play adjacent ranks to clear a board, rather than build suit sequences.
- Level-based progression: the game wraps rounds in themed levels and candy-inspired obstacles instead of presenting only standalone card games.
- Special mechanics: the Hold Slot and boosters add ways to save or remove cards.
- Collectibles: postcards provide a collection goal alongside card-clearing progress.
At launch, Cortinas said King intended to add levels weekly and refine them using player feedback. That was the studio’s plan at the time, not confirmation of the game’s current update schedule. She described the concept as bringing together “two timeless gaming experiences, Candy Crush Saga and Solitaire, both of which offer a satisfying balance of relaxation and challenge,” in Xbox Wire’s February 6, 2025 coverage.

What King’s launch figures do—and do not—describe
King’s February 2025 announcement cited more than 200 million monthly active users for its games and said the Candy Crush franchise had more than 18,000 levels. Those are company-reported figures about King’s broader games and the franchise, respectively—not player, download or level-count figures for Candy Crush Solitaire. The sources cited here do not establish an independent download, revenue or player total for the new game.
