Yes. You can send one pre-recorded video to two YouTube channels at the same time, but each channel needs its own live-stream destination and configuration. Use an encoder that can send separate outputs, or send one feed to a cloud relay that distributes it to both. A stream key from one channel does not automatically publish to another.
What you need on each channel
- Live streaming must be enabled, and the channel must not be restricted from live streaming. YouTube says a channel under a live-stream restriction cannot evade it by streaming through another channel.
- Create or schedule the live event separately on each channel and retrieve that channel’s stream destination details.
- Keep each stream key private. YouTube describes stream keys as the stream’s “password and address”; use the key and stream URL associated with the intended channel.
YouTube’s API documentation requires a separate liveStream resource for each channel. Treat the two destinations as distinct even though the video source is shared.
Choose how to send the video to both channels
Local encoder with two outputs
Configure an encoder to send the video to both channels’ destinations. This gives you direct control, but your computer or hardware encoder must handle the work, and your internet connection needs enough upload capacity for both outputs.
For separate outputs, estimate the required upload capacity by adding their bitrates, then allow headroom for normal connection variation. There is no single bitrate that fits every video and setup; choose settings compatible with the source, encoder, connection, and each channel’s stream configuration.

Cloud relay
Send one feed to a cloud relay, then configure the relay to distribute it to both channel destinations. This avoids sending two separate copies from your local connection, and can be useful when distributing to more than two destinations. Before choosing a service, confirm that it supports prerecorded or scheduled broadcasts—not merely live camera input—and can send to two separate YouTube channels.
YouTube’s general simulstreaming guidance describes local encoding and cloud distribution, but it does not certify a particular relay vendor or establish that any specific service supports prerecorded broadcasts to two YouTube channels. Check those capabilities directly.

Set up and test the two broadcasts
- Check eligibility: Confirm live streaming is enabled on both channels and neither is restricted.
- Create the events: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live event on each channel. Confirm the title, visibility, and planned start time separately for each event.
- Collect each destination: For each event, copy its stream URL and stream key into the corresponding encoder output or relay destination. Do not reuse one channel’s key as though it were valid for both.
- Choose the distribution method: Configure two encoder outputs locally, or configure one incoming feed and two channel destinations in a relay that supports this prerecorded workflow.
- Test before the scheduled start: Verify that both events receive the intended video and audio, that each is associated with the correct channel, and that timing and visibility are right. Check the connection and upload capacity if either feed is unstable.
- Start and monitor: Confirm that both channel events are live and receiving the recording. A successful connection to one destination does not prove the other is working.
How to decide between local output and a relay

Restrictions and common problems
- One channel appears, the other does not: Check that each output uses the correct event, stream URL, and channel-specific key. Each destination needs its own configuration.
- The second output drops or buffers: For local encoding, check upload capacity against the combined output bitrate and reduce settings if necessary. Also check local encoder load.
- A relay accepts the feed but does not start the scheduled broadcast: Confirm the service supports prerecorded or scheduled YouTube broadcasts and that both destinations are configured for the intended events.
- You cannot enable live streaming on a channel: Check its eligibility and restriction status. Do not try to bypass a live-stream restriction by switching to another channel; YouTube says that is not allowed.
- The wrong event receives the video: Stop and verify the mapping of each stream key and URL to the correct channel before resuming.
- Copyright or policy concerns: Both broadcasts remain subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Having permission to upload a recording does not, by itself, establish that every use in a live stream complies with those rules.
