Yes. You can use a finished gaming livestream replay as the video for a YouTube Premiere, provided that YouTube Studio offers the Premiere option for that replay. The old broadcast does not become live again: a Premiere gives viewers a scheduled, shared viewing of the recorded video, with a public watch page, reminders and live chat.
How to turn a gaming VOD into a Premiere

In YouTube Studio, find the finished livestream replay and confirm it is available as a video on your channel. YouTube says a channel may post a replay after a livestream ends; highlights and replays appear as videos. YouTube Help: Learn about live streams.

Start the video upload workflow in YouTube Studio for the replay, then enter or confirm its video details. YouTube’s Premiere instructions use the upload workflow; they do not describe a separate command that converts the original live event into a new broadcast. YouTube Help: Premiere a new video.

In the visibility step, choose to make it an instant Premiere or schedule it for later and select “Set as Premiere.” Check that the setting is available for this particular video before announcing the event.

Review the watch page and event details before sharing them. A Premiere creates a public watch page in advance, where viewers can set reminders, comment and chat.

Promote the page if you want viewers to gather at a particular time. Plan to join the chat and arrange moderation for the event; YouTube recommends creator participation and moderation practices. YouTube Help: Premiere a new video.
Check whether the replay’s format is eligible
YouTube’s Premiere guidance says Shorts, 360-degree or VR180 videos, and output above 1080p are not supported. A gaming VOD that exceeds the supported output limit may need an appropriate version at 1080p or lower. YouTube’s cited guidance does not state an age cutoff for an old livestream replay, but it also does not guarantee that every archived livestream can be selected. Verify the Premiere option in Studio before promoting the watch page. YouTube Help: Premiere a new video.

What viewers experience—and what does not change
A regular VOD is available for viewers to watch on their own schedule. A Premiere adds a scheduled communal event: viewers watch the video together in real time, can rewind, but cannot skip ahead of the portion currently playing. After the event, the video remains a regular upload and chat replay is available. It is still recorded footage, not a new live gaming session. YouTube Help: Premiere a new video.

Rights, channel policies and monetization
Review what is in the recording
Check the VOD for game footage, music, overlays and other material before you schedule it. YouTube’s livestream terms make the creator responsible for having the necessary rights, including applicable music licenses. A video having streamed successfully before does not by itself establish that every included work is cleared for another showing. YouTube Terms of Service.

Do not assume a Premiere will earn money
Eligible creators may have access to monetization options such as ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers during Premieres, but ads are not guaranteed and the event does not promise revenue. Eligibility depends on the creator and channel; check the video and channel status rather than assuming that prior broadcast or a second showing qualifies. YouTube’s monetization policies apply across formats. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify its policy on repetitive or mass-produced material; YouTube says this did not change its reused-content policy. Troubleshooting a missing Premiere option

The replay is not in the upload workflow: Confirm that the livestream finished and that its replay is available as a video in Studio. YouTube says a channel may post a replay after a stream ends; availability of a particular archived stream is not guaranteed by the cited guidance.

The video is not eligible: Check that it is not a Short or 360/VR180 video and that its output is no greater than 1080p, the constraints stated in YouTube’s Premiere help page.

You cannot confirm the event before promotion: Do not advertise a Premiere until Studio offers the setting for that VOD and the watch page is ready. The cited help page does not establish that all archived streams can be premiered or specify a maximum replay age.

Viewers cannot watch ahead to the ending: That is expected during a Premiere. Viewers can rewind but cannot skip past the part currently playing.

You are unsure about music or monetization: Review the actual recording for rights issues and check the channel’s current eligibility and policy status. A previous stream or scheduled Premiere does not guarantee clearance or earnings.
