You can livestream from a computer before getting advanced feature access, provided your channel has phone-verified intermediate access and meets YouTube’s general live-streaming requirements. Advanced access is not required just to start a computer stream.
What verification do you need to stream from a computer?
YouTube places “Live streaming on a computer” in its phone-verified intermediate feature tier. Advanced feature access provides a higher daily limit, but YouTube’s feature chart describes the intermediate-tier limit only as limited; it does not give a universal number of streams per day. Check your own channel’s status in YouTube’s feature-access chart and in YouTube Studio at Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
That means “advanced verification is not required” does not mean “no verification is required.” Phone verification is the relevant step for computer livestreaming. YouTube also requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions within the preceding 90 days. See YouTube’s general live-streaming requirements.
Starting a stream, streaming on mobile, and embedding are different
Computer livestream
For a computer stream, advanced feature access is not a prerequisite if the channel has phone-verified intermediate access and meets the general eligibility requirements. YouTube supports computer streaming by webcam or encoder; the access rules concern the channel, not whether you buy a particular camera or streaming program.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Mobile livestream
Mobile streaming has additional requirements: at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and live streaming turned on. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube also says mobile streams may have audience limits for channels with fewer than 1,000 subscribers. These are mobile-specific conditions, not the subscriber threshold for computer livestreaming. See YouTube’s mobile-streaming guidance.
Embedding a livestream
Starting a computer stream and embedding a live stream on another site are separate capabilities. YouTube lists embedding live streams as an advanced feature, so a channel may be able to go live from a computer without having the access needed to embed that stream.

How to check your channel’s eligibility
- Open YouTube Studio. Sign in to the channel you intend to stream from.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Check whether phone verification and the intermediate features that include computer livestreaming are enabled.
- Review any channel-specific restrictions or prompts. The feature-access chart describes general tiers; your account’s current status is the practical check for whether you can start a stream.
- If you need advanced features, follow YouTube’s displayed verification options. YouTube says the path is phone verification followed by either building sufficient channel history or identity verification by ID or video where offered. Only a primary channel owner can complete identity verification for additional features. Details are in YouTube’s guide to intermediate and advanced features.
If you cannot start the stream
- Phone verification or intermediate access is incomplete: check Feature eligibility and complete the steps YouTube shows for the channel.
- The channel has a live-streaming restriction: YouTube’s general guidance requires no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Advanced access does not override that requirement.
- You are trying to stream from a phone: check the separate 50-subscriber, verification, and activation requirements for mobile streaming. A first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- You are trying to embed the stream: embedding is an advanced feature, even though starting a computer livestream is available at the phone-verified intermediate tier.
- The displayed status differs from the general chart: use the channel’s Feature eligibility page and its account-specific prompts rather than assuming a universal daily quota or access status.
For a prerecorded documentary channel that needs to stay live
Eligibility answers whether a channel can start a stream; it does not keep a prerecorded program running after your computer is off. If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded documentaries, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera, and it does not change YouTube’s verification or channel-eligibility rules. YouTube’s copyright rules still apply to the content you stream.
StreamNeo offers one always-on YouTube stream per slot, with uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The computer does not need to stay on. The first day is free without a card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. Visit StreamNeo to start the free day.
