You can enable developer mode on a Roku and sideload a Roku-format app package, but that does not establish that IPTV Smarters has a compatible Roku build. Roku’s documentation demonstrates the process with its own sample app, not IPTV Smarters. The app’s current Roku availability and any claimed channel-code workaround are unverified here.
Is IPTV Smarters available for Roku TV?
Roku’s developer documentation does not confirm that IPTV Smarters is listed in the Roku Streaming Store or that its publisher provides a working Roku-compatible package. A third-party IPTV Smarters-branded guide describes sideloading and a channel-code approach, but the page could not be retrieved for verification. A Roku Community result records a user asking how to add the app, but the page redirected to general Roku Support and does not settle present availability.
These sources do not establish that IPTV Smarters can currently be installed on Roku. In particular, Roku’s documented sideload process requires a Roku app package; an Android APK is not shown as a Roku installation file. Do not treat an APK, download link, or private channel code as a verified Roku solution.
What Roku’s developer-mode process does—and does not—do
Roku documents enabling developer mode and opening the Development Application Installer to upload a Roku-format package. Its example uses the Roku Hello World sample app. The instructions are for loading a compatible Roku app package, not for converting an app from another platform or making an unavailable app compatible. Roku also states: “Only one app can be sideloaded at a time. If you sideload another app, the new app replaces the older app on your Roku device.”

rokudevand the password you created. - Upload a Roku-format package: The installer’s documented example uploads Roku’s Hello World sample app as a ZIP or squashfs package. This step only works with a suitable Roku app package; it does not make an Android APK installable.
What to check before attempting an IPTV Smarters install
- Look for IPTV Smarters in the Roku Streaming Store through Roku’s official channels.
- If someone offers a sideload package, establish that it is specifically built for Roku and obtain it from a trustworthy source. Roku’s general instructions do not verify third-party packages.
- Do not rely on the channel-code method described by the IPTV Smarters-branded guide as current or verified; its page could not be checked, and Roku’s documentation does not confirm it.
- Consider the sideload limit before uploading another app: Roku says a newly sideloaded app replaces the previously sideloaded one.
