Not as a documented direct source. Streamlabs’ published Mobile setup guides explain streaming your phone camera or screen and customizing a scene with widgets, themes, and images; they do not show how to add a stored video file as a scene source. Screen-sharing a video player may work on some phones, but the reviewed guidance does not establish that both its picture and sound will reach your YouTube stream.
What Streamlabs Mobile’s guides document
Streamlabs describes Mobile broadcasts as either a camera stream or phone-screen content. Its YouTube-from-phone guide follows the same pattern: choose camera or screen/game streaming, customize in Editor Mode, then go live. The Mobile customization instructions cover widgets, overlay themes, and custom images, but do not describe selecting a video from the phone’s storage as a playable scene source. Streamlabs’ Mobile guide and its YouTube-from-phone instructions are the relevant official procedures.
That is a documentation-based conclusion, not proof that every app and operating-system version is technically unable to do it. The reviewed material does not settle behavior for a specific iOS or Android release, or whether protected video will appear in a screen capture.
Can screen sharing show a video from your camera roll?
Possibly, if your phone lets Streamlabs capture the screen while another app plays the clip. However, Streamlabs’ published guidance does not promise local-player capture, and it does not establish that the player’s audio will be captured alongside the image. A clip that appears on your phone may therefore be missing, silent, or otherwise unsuitable in the broadcast.

If you want to try it, make a short private or unlisted test stream first. Confirm both picture and sound from the stream itself, not just from the phone preview. Check that playback starts and stops as intended, and avoid assuming that protected content will be capturable.
For a more controlled video-file workflow
Streamlabs documents scenes and sources in its computer-based Desktop workflow, which gives you a separate route to investigate when a prerecorded clip must be a deliberate part of the scene. The official guide explains Desktop scenes and sources generally; it does not establish a specific video-file control for every installed version. Streamlabs also documents an Android Mobile LAN feature that sends a phone camera or screen feed to Desktop over the same local network, where that feed can be added as a Desktop Media Source. Choose the workflow by what you need to control
- Live phone capture: Mobile’s documented camera and screen options fit a broadcast of what you are filming or displaying on the phone.
- A prerecorded clip that must start predictably: Investigate Desktop’s available sources and verify the file workflow in the installed version.
- Picture and sound both matter: Test the actual stream output; the Mobile documentation does not guarantee that screen sharing captures both.
- You want a phone feed in a Desktop scene: Android Mobile LAN is documented for camera or screen feeds on a shared local network, not stored-file playback.
Check YouTube before you go live
Connecting Streamlabs Mobile to YouTube and choosing a source are separate questions from whether your account is currently able to broadcast. Review the live settings and eligibility shown in your YouTube account before planning a stream; platform requirements can change. If you use a prerecorded clip, make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast its video and audio. A successful screen capture does not grant permission to use copyrighted material.
